Re: Prisco, Judge Rip Redskins re: Randle El's Contract
socio, those are great quotes. #1 isn't far off until the last sentence, but most people here thought the same thing.
#3 "He lacks physical courage and generally will be exactly what he was in New York, and that is erratic and undependable" that one kinda pisses you off though. |

Bet they said something like that when we signed Santana Moss.
Wait & see, then laugh. |

Re: Prisco, Judge Rip Redskins re: Randle El's Contract
One thing I seriously don't understand is how they can question Danny moves recently. They were all proved wrong with Santana and other recent moves. Do they really think the Redskins and Dan Synder are stupid with their moves? Do they really think we are gonna be over the cap? I mean come on,our team has plently of people working on the numbers and potential moves for the next 10 years, and I'm sure they are all consulted before big moves like this are made. They make it sound like Danny boy is the lucky rich boy at the candy shop who just buys everything that looks good without thinking..I mean damn, I am so sick and tired of people like this giving him shit. Yeah he made some mistakes in the past, but he has learned, there is a reason why he has been such a successful businessman in the past, he learns from his mistakes, and plus he has plently of other brillant people employed helping him out. He has and always will calculate and carryout what would be the best for the team. Dan has done all he can, and the rest is truely on fate and how things play out.

Re: Prisco, Judge Rip Redskins re: Randle El's Contract
comparing moss's deal with either of our new receivers is just not fair. Moss is underpaid for the production that he puts up. He had comparable numbers to lloyd when he came here. If moss has another top 3 WR season then he deserves more but as of now he has only had one great season with us and will need to do more before we can say that randle el and Lloyd don't deserve similar contracts that moss got when he got here. Moss is worth a hell of a lot more now than when we signed him and I don't think he will hold out just yet. if he has another great season i have no problem giving him a new contract expecially if he wants it on incentives.

Re: Prisco, Judge Rip Redskins re: Randle El's Contract
you just dont go around offering guys more money. not if you want to win games and maximize talent. sean taylor averages 2.5mill a year and he's the 2nd best guy on our defense (washington and griffin both average 5mill i believe, springs averages 6).
thats why you lock them in long term. we made a mistake in not doing that with pierce, but if you noticed, we got marshall cheap for years, so the lesson was learned. because of inflation, short term deals are inherently worse, cause even if the guy's production is the same, in 2010 that level of production is worth more than in 2006 as long as the nfl remains a growth industry. the colts weren't decisive and decided to only pay out AFTER guys had career years, so they paid guys at the peak of their production, and anytime those players don't meet that production level, the colts lose value. as long as your scouting is as good as ours has been (at avoiding busts), you invest early and for the long term and you'll come out with MUCH more talent per dollar. saving money now with short contracts is a great way to cost yourself more down the line (unles you're REALLY unsure on a palyer). in the business of winning, maxing price/performance is best shot, and giving money away isn't going to help. its not like moss is making vet min, he's got a 31$mill contract (at 2006 prices). His production (should it continue) would merit a 56$mill contract. that's not nearly as far off as portis doing 1500 yards for 500k (when its worth 3-5mill), or javon walker. there's a new cba and prices are up more than 5% unlike most years (they're up 10,15, maybe 20% this year depending on the team). |

Re: Prisco, Judge Rip Redskins re: Randle El's Contract
High demand high prices for named FA's. That's the way it happens this year. Redskins are among the best in the league continually bringing excitement to the fans. The difference is we have Joe Gibbs, Greg Williams and Al Saunders coaching the team. Hate to say 'we're headed to the SB' just yet, but gotta admit we're headed to the playoffs again this year!

On Mike and Mike this morning they both loved the Randle El signing, especially Greenberg.
At least some of the media is on our side. |

Cocaine is a hell of a drug. :smoker:
I AM a bit concerned about this money situation. I don't want this to turn into 2000. I don't think it will, but I can definitely see them gearing up for Super Bowl XLI NOW.

Re: Prisco, Judge Rip Redskins re: Randle El's Contract
looking at OL DE and QB #3 targets now. If they sign, only LB (2nd tier starter) and #3 CB will be left. I'm not sure we'll try for a kicker or punter (though stealing dirk johnson from the iggles would be cool).

Re: Prisco, Judge Rip Redskins re: Randle El's Contract
In two or three years when the Salary cap is at $120 million, paying $5 million a year for your number 2 receiver is going to seem like a bargin. Besides, what are we looking for in a number 2 WR? We are looking for 5-6 catches a game! Moss will get 7-10, Randle El will get 5-6, Lloyd may get 5-6, and Cooley will get 5-6. We don't have enough balls to go around! I still say the Skins will run the ball 20-25 times a game anyway.

Re: Prisco, Judge Rip Redskins re: Randle El's Contract
Look at Lloyd and Randle El's stats and project them to 90 catches. That is what they did with Moss and guess what happened. We are assembling playmakers together to make a cohesive offense. Did I mention we also got Saunders to run the offense???????
