Eagles | Team looking for competition at No. 3 quarterback
Tue, 21 Mar 2006 06:43:27 -0800

Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports the Philadelphia Eagles apparently intend to draft a quarterback who will compete for the third spot with QB Koy Detmer through minicamps and training camp. If everyone remains healthy and the young quarterback seems to get the hang of the offense, Detmer probably will then be released.

so they'll be drafting a QB somewhere...

Bears | Team holds a workout for L. Johnson
Tue, 21 Mar 2006 08:52:23 -0800

Kareem Copeland, of the Hattiesburg American, reports the Chicago Bears held a recent workout for Southern Mississippi P Luke Johnson. They came to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, specifically, looking at the punter. "They just called me up out of the blue on my birthday (March 2)," he said. "It was a pretty good birthday present. It went really good. I haven't really heard anything on it."

Vikings | Moving up for a QB?
Tue, 21 Mar 2006 10:27:15 -0800

The Associated Press reports the Minnesota Vikings have not ruled out trying to move up in the 2006 NFL Draft to take one of the rookie quarterbacks - Southern Cal's Matt Leinart, Texas' Vince Young or Vanderbilt's Jay Cutler. "If you have a little bit of ammo, if you see somebody that moves you, you'd be able to move up if that person was there," said Vikings head coach Brad Childress. The Vikings may package the second-round pick they received from the Miami Dolphins to move up.

a 4.6 kinda limits your upside and which WRs you can cover in man the verts didn't really help either... that said, maylock does say some crazy things and some of his rankings are way out of touch. These 2 may have sent themselves into the 3rd or 4th round though.

maybe the turf just sucked, but i heard phillips ran a 4.6 earlier anyways.

NFL | V. Young runs a little slower than expected
Wed, 22 Mar 2006 15:29:04 -0800

ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen reports Texas QB Vince Young was timed in 4.58 seconds in the 40-yard dash Wednesday, March 22, on what is considered a fast track at the University of Texas in Austin, according to one NFL scout. According to the same scout, Young's overall workout was "fairly impressive," but the scout believed that Young was not asked to make certain drops and throws that he would have to perform in a private team workout.

he actually ran the 40 a bunch of times and was timed between 4.49 an 4.58. not the 4.4/4.45 people wanted to see though.

And Salisbury was on Sportscenter afterwards commenting on how impressive his speed was, and how he looks bored during workouts which makes him a great player.

considering what a "great" player salisbury was, i wouldn't exactly consider him the pre-eminent expert in such matters but i'm pretty sure most of the people here are well aware of that.
