Lions | Police and courts: S. Vines
Sat, 8 Apr 2006 08:21:02 -0700

Mlive.com, citing the Jackson Hole Star Tribune, reports Detroit Lions WR Scottie Vines was forced to pay damages for a fight he had while in college at Wyoming. Vines has to pay $32,633 in damages to plaintiff Derek Erickson, including $24,833 in punitive awards. The civil trial stemmed from an April 7, 2003 incident in which Vines, his brother and Erickson got into an altercation during a pickup basketball game at a local gymnasium. A doctor and dentist testified during the trial that Erickson has irreparable damage to his vision and dental structure.

"How many of us wanted Williams on draft day?"

I already thought we had plenty of tight ends. ...and that's what he is, a tight end. ...that can't block very well. I don't see why anyone, Matt Millen and Steve Mariucci included, would blow a pick that high on a tight end. But there's an awful lot of me too thinkin' in the NFL, and everybody, I think, was thinkin' about Antonio Gates that year.
