Re: Different types of throws Brunell vs. Cambell

Here is one obvious difference that is going to have an impact (but no one is talking about):

Campbell throws with his right hand.

This will have a direct impact on protection (good or bad? we'll have to see, but it will have an impact).

It will also impact coverages and how the receivers catch the ball.

Also, Campbell can not only throw deep, but he can also throw the out routes that #8 simply has not executed as a Redskin.

His delivery is very smooth, but it takes a while for him to get the ball out of there. His mobility and strength will allow him to make up for that.

It will help. I love Jansen and strongly disagree with calls to get rid of him in the offseason, but he's not as good in pass protection as Samuels. Samuels is better than a lot of people give him credit for.

i was thinking that exact thing before. Samuels and Jansen essentially swap roles covering the QB's blindside. alot of the plays and primary recievers will change too. also, someone is going to have to carry tissues for Ladell.

I'm changing the thread title. I think, if nothing else, Campbell deserves to have his name spelled right

samuels is just inconsistent... he'll make some great plays and then just stand there and watch as someone runs right by him. he's not a bad player though, just frustrating at times.

The big difference between the two should be that Campbell will throw the ball passed the line of scrimmage. Also if or when Campbell complete three passes in a row, Campbell wont lose 8 yrds on those three completions. He might acutally gain yards what a thrill that could be.

Re: Different types of throws Brunell vs. Campbell

lets just say this JC can make all of the throws an nfl qb should be able to make. he will be able to make throws MB made about 10 years ago. Not many highlights to be seen except from his last year at auburn. 13-0 says alot JC is a winner everywhere he has been...middle school, hs and college

And he sounded excited, quit pissing on the new kids parade. Let's see, you get hired to do a job, everyone says you're the future of the company, and you get stuck as an intern for 19 months. Isn't that like hitting the lottery.

And last I checked, David Carr, Philip Rivers, and Tony Romo were all doing pretty good with less than perfect deliveries. I believe Randall Cunningham even won an MVP with a similar style, and as a Skins fan I'd be remiss in not pointing out our very own Doug Williams had a very similar throwing motion. Pick on something else, throwing motion is so '90s.
I looked back through my posts in this thread to see where I said JC couldnt throw, I didnt see any evidence of that. There's no denying he has a buggywhip delivery but that does not mean he cant succeed.

I cant think of anyone in my business dealings that gets hired as the future of the company and then gets stuck as an intern. They start doing their job on their 1st day. Sure they start slow with small bits at first but they are doing their job and are far from an intern.

Campbell didnt hit the lottery, he has practiced and prepared for this his entire football career. If you or I get named starting QB, that's hitting the lottery. For JC its not, he didnt luck into this job, he earned it. Can he keep it? Time will tell.

There's nothing wrong with JC's delivery.

If Leftwich can throw in this league, anybody can.
I rarely have anything positive to say because since 1992 the Redskins have rarely done anything worth being positive about.

Re: Different types of throws Brunell vs. Campbell

I am not very familiar with Campbell other than just seeing him in the pre-season, but after watching the highlights of him in college I must say that he throws the deep ball so effortlessly. I mean he makes it look so easy, he doesnt even look as if he is putting his all into. I would love to see how far he could throw it if he really wound up and launched it...
