In attempting to accomplish a complex task, have you ever worked with a group of people that, although each sincerely wanted a good outcome, bickered constantly, fought over how best to accomplish the task, was forced to make concessions and compromises on how best to accomplish the task and then, when all was said and done, looked at the final product and said "Wow- that's amazing". Inspiration can come individually or corparately, easily or through contentious creation, and it is the product of the inspiration rather than its process that should be judged. (The U.S. Constitution leaps to mind as an "inspired document" contentiously created through the debate and compromise of many gifted individuals).

The fact that Christians reached the ultimate expression of their collective wisdom through debate, contention and concession rather than by accepting some volume magically handed down by an anthropormic ghost, to me, makes it more relevant than not.

Many point to the very human way in which Christianity developed through the ages as the basis for disbelieving its tenets. I suggest to you that it is the very humanity of Christianity that makes it an appropriate vehicle for those who seek God.

Utter nonesense, the fact is people like to say that man kind is responsible for the bible not God, the fact is holy men of old spoke as the holy spirit moved them. Not only has God written the bible he has also protected it, the King James bible is the closest thing we have in the english translation to the original script, and all this can, and has been tested throughout the centuries, the bible has stood the test of time. Now there are many spin offs of the original context but they all can be proven through comparison on authenticity. As seen when they discovered some of the dead seas scrolls which where almost identical to the translation we have today.

Has man kind done everything they can to change God's word to suit thier Sin's? Yes! But they can be easily checked and refuited with the Greek and Hebrew text's which exept for a few minor errors in translation which most people who truly study the bible are aware of it is right on the money with century old text's.

Rest assured God is fully capable of protecting his word against mankind, now if mankind wants to run to a different truth other than the bible or take measures to distorte the bible that's thier perogative, but they also have to answer for that as well.


Revelation 22-"18": For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

You may not believe and clearly many folks don't believe but the evidence I've seen in my small life trumps people opinions.

I'm not wrong to say I am 100% right. I'm a faithful and humble follower of Jesus the Christ.

I never argue about my religion or try to beat people in the head with Jesus. Never works and Jesus gets bruised. I just believe and share my faith and tesitmony.

Like I said above those folks are not teaching what is taught in the Bible.

SBF -- These people believe 100% that they are correct too and they do nothing but follow the bible. The bible is written in a way where it can be interpreted in multiple ways. All religions are fashioned in this way. That's how radical Muslims can 'justify' their actions just like fanatical Christians who go around blowing up abortion clinics and killing people 'justify' that.

If you want to get into semantics, any organized religion falls into the label of a cult.

As you know, I'm not a religious guy. I basically feel that if there is an afterlife, as long as you're a genuinely good person, you have no problems. I seriously doubt someone will be turned down from a life of paradise because of the fact that they eat pork. Just my opinion.

In my opinion the Bible is a book that isn't to be taken as a book of laws to be forced on people, but rather a book of moral stories to live by. It's not 100% right in anything. I think SBF is right on the money... There is no need to beat any religion into anyone.

Jesus himself said that the pharisees and Jewish leaders at the time were taking tradition way to intensely. They put all this energy into fasting, praying, observing, etc. and missed out on what religion should be.

I think a great number of Christian people/societies today still are misinterpreting Jesus' message and putting too much emphasis on a church structure and tradition, and not enough on spirituality.

The Bible is probably such a victim of corruption because of the very way it was written. It was meant to be interpreted many different ways to different people, and that's exactly what happened.

People are now taking it in a way that doesn't bring out the greater good. They're using it for power, money, greed, etc.. It's not right and things like Jesus camp just will frustrate people and turn them away from what is a very inspiring and complex religion.

In my opinion, the bible was written by humans, but inspired by the good. Call this good "God" or whatever you want, but I think if there is an objective Good, the bible certainly contains a lot of it. Many people miss out on a lot of the philosophical benefits of the Bible, because it's usually forced on them, or promoted by bad organizations.

One book that was written off as heresy is the Gospel of Thomas. While it's not biblical cannon, I think it's an inspiring read that really gets down to the basics of Christianity. It's relatively short, but I think it holds true to Jesus' ideals, and parallels a lot of his philosophy. It's not a bad read at all.

Right. While I'm a believing, following Christian, I also know there is no way I'm going to prove someone otherwise who doesn't believe what I believe, because it's so deeply ingrained. Likewise, there is no way someone ELSE is going to convince me the other way.

It's fun to hear other viewpoints, if anything as an additional facts and beliefs that are at least interesting. It's when people start attacking viewpoints that can be neither proven nor discounted is when a problem lies.

On a more serious note, all religions are so contradictory it's hard to take them seriously. If sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true. It sounds like a scam unlike any other. A gigantic pyramid scheme. It has always been forced down people's throats and will continue to be. They have to utilize gorilla marketing because if people ever start thinking and questioning the whole thing comes crumbling.

Religion aught to be simple, elegant, and self explanatory. Reading the bible is like reading horror story sprinkled with common sense moral verses here and there.

I really feel sorry for the children. They'll make a perfect non-thinking mouth piece for their brand of Christianity.
