have you ever been in the deep south? they continue to have a very narrow minded opinion on anyone that isnt white. i would find it very surprising if obama could win any one of the southern states. and without them, no way he could win an election. the hatred still runs very deep down there

this is a very good quote. the problems that america has had while i was growing up, were alot deeper, then they are right now. while we have made great strides towards racism, there is still alot of work to do

Re: Mayor Bloomberg Declares His Independence

I think the question whether or not America is ready for black President isn't the best way to ask the question, to be honest.

First of all, I think Amercia is ready for change. And politically speaking, people are re-examing a lot of things right now. They're open to change, and change comes in all forms, shapes, and colors. You have Repuplicans re-examing their party affiliation and Dems doing the same. So I think within that context, yes, America has no qualms about electing it's first black President or female for that matter.

Secondly, when you look at, let's use Senator Obama, the auditoriums where he speaks are generally packed with caucasions, the money he's raised to date is primarily from caucasion donors and supporters; Likewise with his volunteers and staff.

Here's another theory I have on the issue of race and color in America. Now one may or may not be able draw any conclusion and link the two. But when you look at the corporate landscape over the past 10 to 15 years, we've seen more women and blacks rise to the position of CEO and CFO of large corporations than in recent history. I don't think there's a coicindence, that when it comes to leadership, people have become more color blind and more occupied with results.

I think as the stakes get higher people are more open to race and gender and how it translates to the quality of leadership.

From the Washington Times:

There is only one way it can go
When the Clintons are destined for woe
And they don't have the base
For a two-person race:
Michael Bloomberg must play Ross Perot.

I live in Va a spend alott of time in the south and I don't see it. If something is said enough then people start to believe what is being said and that is the case for the south. Don't get me wrong there are some people in the south that are still living life as it was back in the 40's but I just feel that has changed allot over the past 20 years.
