I never liked Armstead. He is a perfect example of how the Skins under Danny always coveted everyone elses players and not thier own. The year they signed Armstead they chose to let Shawn Barber leave town. A hideous decision. Barber was aproaching his prime and Armstead was on the way down but Danny chose style over substance like he often does. you need to wear a different uniform to ring Dannys register.

The article mentions maybe getting Marcus Washington from the Colts. I like that move.

I'm not trying to compare LaVar to Ray Lewis but would he be more effective as a MLB like Lewis?

On the field, Lewis shows amazing discipline - which is the most important thing an MLB can have. LaVar is physically gifted, probably moreso than Lewis, but he would have to restrain himself like he's never done before.

They are planning on moving LaVar to weak side LB. That's why they cut Armstead.

If true, this would greatly improve the defense, in particular the pass rush. I liked Armstead but he no longer has the tools to be a premiere weakside LB. The WLB should be one of the team leaders in tackles and sacks. The WLB is frequently left unblocked at the line of scrimage and covers the runningback on pass plays. When the WLB blitzes on pass plays, he is usually blocked by a RB or FB. Lavar will run over most RB's or FB's and register many sacks next year. I have wanted the skins to make Lavar a WLB since they drafted him.
The strong side LB usually does the dirty work against the tightend and usually gets little glory. We can find a good SLB for cheap in free agency or draft.
While Armstead had decent numbers stats wise, he does not have the speed and game breaking ability that Lavar Arrington will bring to the WLB position.

Then, I really hope the Skins trade down, get some picks, and try to get Teddy Lehman or Michael Boulware. How menacing would it be with LaVar on one side, Lehman or Boulware on the other...

I agree 100%. I was so PO'ed to see Barber get the shaft. I hated Armstead for it, and I still have a bitter taste in my mouth over the wholesale changes that happened in the first few years of Danny. Now that Gibbs is in town, I am willing to forgive, But I will never forget.
