Re: Why are the Redskins jinxed?
Indian curse for not changing our name. I hope they never change the team's name and are able to change the curse.

What the domination in the 80's went unnoticed? Or are these newly dead Native Americans? Or is it that FedEx Field is built on an "Indian burial ground?" |

Re: Why are the Redskins jinxed?
I'll tell you why this is worse. Even in the pathetic Spurrier era, we'd lose quick and painless. The blow lead thing is like getting kicked in the nads every week. And even the wins (Arizona, Jets) somehow hurt. And then the injuries. And then Sean. And then Gibbs calling the timeout. And then JC.
And we're still 6-7, so I still get totally wrapped up in it, week after week.

"Backside five, definitely backside five" (insert proper intonation here)

Re: Why are the Redskins jinxed?
The starter under Gibbs always gets the vast majority of the work. No big surprise there.

Snyder curse (man means no harm but ever since he's owned this team there is just nothing we can do)...it all backfires

Re: Why are the Redskins jinxed?
I think we've got three "curses" - we hired Steve Spurrier as a head coach (but Joe Gibbs is slowly but surely removing that curse), we moved out of the original "DC diamond" (the new stadium, if not in DC proper should have been at the old Potomac Yards in Alexandria as JKC originally wanted - it was on the Metro, had sight lines to the Monument and was in the original boundaries of DC) and we took Jack Kent Cooke's name off the stadium. I say we fix the remaining "curses" by building a proper football stadium - with lot's of natural crowd noise - inside the original DC boundaries and name it JKC Stadium. (And once Gibbs retires the second time, I'd want to call it "Gibbs Field at Jack Kent Cooke Stadium"...)

Re: Why are the Redskins jinxed?
Personally I feel we have weathered the storm, I really like Campbell, seems like a real nice kid, but if he finishes that game I believe we lose, I think Collins See's the field and understands what the defense is going to do before it happens, Campbell has the physical advantage, but Collins at least so far has the mental advantage, he was able to get rid of the ball on anticipation, he was aware of which receiver was going to break open didn't have to see it happen first he was preparing to throw the ball before it actually materialized, if he can consistently time his throws out like that he doesn't need a cannon for an arm.
If Collins can come out next game and move the ball in the air like he did tonight look out! This team right now is ready to explode for a QB who can find the open receiver. Every week even though we have the lead we all know that we are going to have to sweat one out watching the opposing team coming down the field against a tired defense, well I didn't have that feeling tonight, I had the feeling that Collins was going to move the ball. One more thing we should all take notice is the play calling on the last drive, we attacked with the passing game, when was the last time we saw that late in a game? It is possible that there is not enough trust in Campbell in his ability to make the right decision late in games and that is why we sit back the way we do? Who knows for sure right now? But I do know I saw Collins make big throw after big throw late in the game. I think this game just may catapult us into the playoffs, lets see what Collins does next game with more reps in practice? |

Re: Why are the Redskins jinxed?
I don't know why we are cursed but I think some sort of animal sacrifice is necessary.

Re: Why are the Redskins jinxed?
I don't believe in curses or jinxes. What I do believe in is character in the face of mounting adversity, and this team had that in spades last night. Everything these guys have fought through this year will make them a better team next year.
