Re: ESPN: Snyder, Skins Appear Committed to New Approach
the first year with a new system probably won't be so hot, but our first time HC/playcaller/OC etc has a strong support system, was able to bring the guys he wanted for his system in, and didn't have to worry about the rest of the staff that wasn't directly related to installing his WCO (trainers, defense, etc).
nothing to complain about so far. just hope for a couple key signings (WR/CB #3) and a good draft (first 3 picks should give us 2 starters between DE, DT, and S with a backup OL guy). |

Re: ESPN: Snyder, Skins Appear Committed to New Approach
I love this quote from the article, "I think he's cited that he's had seven offensive coordinators in the years he's played college and the pros,'' Zorn said. "I just say, 'That's the way it goes.' I can't change that. He can't change that. What we can do is not [dwell] on that. We can't use that as a reason he can't do something. He should be able to do a lot of things now. That's the way I look at it, you should be able to do everything now that you've had so many offensive coordinators."
It tells me that Zorn is going to be tough love type of coach with Campbell.. Enough with the excuses (although that's more of a media thing than a Campbell thing I believe) let's just focus on getting the job done and getting you and this team where you need to be.

Re: ESPN: Snyder, Skins Appear Committed to New Approach
Zorn does have a good point here:
"He should be able to do a lot of things now. That's the way I look at it, you should be able to do everything now that you've had so many offensive coordinators." JC has probably seen and heard it all by now as far as schemes and terminology go. And I think his basic point is dwelling on the past gets you nowhere. You've gotta keep moving forward. JC doesn't seem like one for making excuses so I think he and Zorn will be a good fit in that regard. |

Re: ESPN: Snyder, Skins Appear Committed to New Approach
That article is a nice, positive spin on the Skins situation. I am usually a Redskin pessimist, having been trained to be so since Joe Gibbs first retired, but for for some reason I find myself being uncharacteristically pleased with the way things are going so far this offseason.
I have been a long time closet Seahawks fan, I was 10 when they entered the league and thought their uniforms and logo were really cool back then. So hiring Zorn in any capacity I thought was pretty neat. I came to really think it was a good move when I spoke to a couple friends who live in Seattle and are hardcore Hawks fans. They were under the impression that when Holmgren retired the job would go to either Zorn or Mora, and both were bummed that Zorn cam to Washington because they were hoping he would get the nod there over Mora. So...I will say that I have poured myself a nice glass of Redskin Kool-aid, but I am not quite ready to drink it. Time will tell.

I'm not really a gambling man any longer but I would have bet the house that JC would NOT have taken us 4 straight into the playoffs. Just didn't have that feeling. Not trying to be negative.

Think the time to sit and watch and reflect did him well. Zorn will make sure he's stellar and ready to work and win. Think better stats and more wins in our future with JC.

Fair. Collins looked better though. He was on fire down the stretch, maybe it would have or could have happened. I"m just one man.

As much as I have bashed the FO before I like what they are doing know and totally agree with your points. Now if the Skins can just keep their word and not go bonkers in Free Agency and also keep their picks it will be a successful offseason. I know that agents hate what Vinny said about the Skins being quiet, but Vinny and Dan may have learned from the rescent past that going after the big names does not always pan out. |
