Zorn has already made it perfectly clear that JC is going to be the starting QB for the Redskins this year, and for the foreseeable future.

If I'm Jason Campbell, I certainly would not feel comfortable with this type talk surfaceing one week before the start of training camp. Sometime people just get lost for something to talk about. The thought of a very short term Favre would undercut everything the team has been trying to acomplish, and would serve no worthwhile purpose. "Just say no".

Hell no! I'd honestly rather talk about Mark Brunell, Lavar Arrington or Patrick Ramsey then Farve. I can't believe you would even waste time on this subject. But you're a mod and you can do what ever the hell you want.

Like it or not until the dust settles and he signs with a new team we're going to hear rumors about the Redskins being a possibility. As I said I don't see it happening but I don't think it can be completely ruled out. A few weeks ago some people were convinced that Favre coming back at all was out of the question.

Agreed. Enough is enough. The guy has done a great deal for Green Bay, but in the last 2-3 years with the retirement waffling he has been completely unfair to that franchise.

If Brett Favre came out and says "I want to play for the Washington Redskins," I think this becomes a very interesting story.

I mean, it wouldn't retard Jason Campbell's development at all to sit for half a season or so and slow some things down, but I don't even think its a certainty that Favre would win a QB competition if he came here.

Additionally, he's 39, and the attrition rate for 39 year old QBs is through the roof (or floor, depending on how you picture it). QBs tend to stay pretty good into their late 30's (see: Brunell, Mark), but once 40 years old starts breathing down their neck, their game could fall off the map at any time (see: Brunell, Mark or Testeverde, Vincent).

So, if anyone plays Favre as a starter expecting competency, they are taking a risk that he can keep going like he was able to at age 38 last season. If he wanted to come here, I would certainly listen, but I would not actively chase him.

It's hard not to be tempted by Brett Favre in a Redskins jersey. But it's probably not the right move. I might have thought a little differently had Gibbs still been the coach and together they wanted one last hurrah before walking off into the sunset. But with Zorn it just doesn't make sense. I mean there are no guarantees that Campbell is Zorn's guy, or vice-versa. Maybe Zorn really wants Colt Brennan to be his guy and he's just biding time until he's ready (whenever that may be). But even if that were the case, he would probably just start Todd Collins until such time as Colt or someone else was ready.

I'm rambling now, but long story short the only reason I would make a run at him is to up his value and force another team, another potential WC contender (Minnesota, Tampa, Carolina) to overspend for him.

Favre's gun slinging tendencies would give Gibbs a heart attack, SS. Statistically, Favre's best season in the NFL was last year. I think the guy has 2-3 years left. I still think MN, Chicago, Tampa, and Carolina have more interest than us, but I think we're intrigued.

He's become less of a gun slinger as he's gotten older. McCarthy did a great job with him in that regard.
