Re: QB...controversy...DC?
Giantone what "legs" are you talking about? This article just says Favre could go to the Redskins because, hey, it's the Redskins.
Didn't need its own thread, and you should probably read articles before posting them... |

They at least lay out a scenario for Favre going to Carolina. There is nothing new or substantive in this blurb vis-à-vis the Redskins. I can see thinking there might be more to it than rumors prior to reading it, however, upon reading it clearly there is not. Maybe I'm reacting negatively because I don't like what the article says, or maybe you are just bringing weak sauce to the picnic. |

Fahrve isn't a good fit with the Redskins right now. We can win with the quarterbacks we already have IF we get some decent blocking.

Re: QB...controversy...DC?
Let's slow down on the "reputable source" talk, PFT is a blog and is as reputable as any blogger can be.
But it seems like the problem is that this "rumor" really has us afraid. On one hand there's the sentiment that "Glad to see Snyder learned his lesson" and stayed lowkey for a change. But on the other hand, there's still the fear that if this rumor sticks around long enough then Danny Boy may just bite. There's still the fear in the heart of all Redskins fans that he still may be seduced by the dark side, or the thought of the number of jerseys he can sell. Of course, all this could just be Bus Cook using the Redskins to drive up the price, which was mentioned on PFT. Or Dan's silence could just be an effort to keep the Redskins in the mainstream media, I mean otherwise they'd mention us only when they talk about rookie coaches and teams *expected to be* dropping out of the playoffs this year. *edit* added the expected to be, since most pundits have us fifth in the four team NFC East |

Re: QB...controversy...DC?
It isn't that PFT is a reliable or unreliable source. They simply post any and all news that they gather from all of the media outlets from around the league. It is what it is: Pro...Football...Talk. If somebody affiliated with some football team says something football related they post it, plain and simple. It's all just water cooler....talk.
As to this rumor, if we do sign Favre, I'll tattoo "I heart PFT" on my right arm.

What we do HERE in this forum is water cooler talk. And trust me, this site is a more reliable news source than PFT will ever be. And what you said is the difference between a reliable source and an unreliable source. Professional writers will check, double check and triple check thier sources to ensure all credibility prior to running a story. Shoot even I will check multiple news sources on a story before referencing it in a post. Not PFT though. If PFT is just a bunch of guys doing "water cooler" talk as you say with no sources or checking sources, than it is no better than a tabloid "making up" outlandish stories and publishing them. |

PFT is a blog. It's not a news source, its not even wikipedia, in fact the information that we're even talking about is in the section titled RUMOR MILL. He's not a reporter, he gives his opinion on stories that other people have written or heard about. The Favre to Redskins story started with Mike Francesa of WFAN, so to blame PFT is inaccurate, he's a blogger. So let's not attack PFT for not being a credible news source, to me it's like people being mad at McDonald's for selling cheeseburgers. |

Re: QB...controversy...DC?
More from PFT
ProFootballTalk.com - MORE ON FAVRE TO THE REDSKINS "The wildly divergent viewpoints, however, mean that no one’s got a clue about how this whole mess is going to end up." Finally, PFT gets it right There isn't much, in my opinion, to be gained by trading for Favre. If Zorn wants to say (and I'm totally making this up) "you know what Campbell's just not my guy. I didn't draft him and I'll say all the right things but truth is I'm more focused on developing Colt for 2009-2010," that's fine I suppose but a) Favre as a stopgap measure wont come cheap and b) a huge investment has already been made in Campbell so just be aware of that. End of the day, I think Campbell is our guy for years to come.
