Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs Browns)

Chris Cooley looked way out of sync yesterday. Seems that he let one mistake come into his psyche and that set the tone for him the entire game. At least 2 drops, and while his fumble did not lead to a turnover, not only is that 2 weeks in a row with a fumble, but he looked very nonchalant about it.

Not sure what happened on that sequence during the Suisham miss...the TV guys said high snap didn't allow Plackenmeyer to get the ball down in time, but nonetheless, inside 40 should be automatic.

I watched the game with 2 buddies, and told them that Brady Quinn will most likely be the starter next week. If he isn't, I wouldn't be surprised if the rumor mill about Crennel's firing gets juiced up.

Speaking of which, are there 2 more boring guys to call a game other than Ian Eagle and Solomon Wilcots?!?!

The score was low because the Redskin offense had poor field position, committed dumb penalties and didn't convert on third down.
A few times DA threw balls to the completely wrong spot though, and his accuracy is so bad. The D played well, but I really think DA was his own worst enemy.

They need to make a change before their season is totally down the toilet.

I think it's funny considering how many people, including myself, thought the Browns had a great qb situation during the offseason. Anderson wasn't looking quite so bad and people were saying they had two really nice options at qb with Quinn in the mix. Now it's looking like DA should be a backup somewhere, he has really underperformed this season.

For those of you counting, that's two wins this year that Crennel has cost the Browns.
Anyone else getting tired of saying this game after game??

Antwaan Randle El -- Can you please stop getting tackled at the one yard line? Its seems like every time you get close to the end zone, you get tackled two steps before the goal line. We need TD's Randle El, and so does my fantasy team because you're my 3rd receiver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have said it for two games. Who cares about the score as long as we have the higher number.

I will take a season of 16-0 with a SB win and all the scores where 3-2, the final score means nothing it is the W that counts.

New Orleans, St. Louis, Cleveland. And we've said it numerous times the past few seasons, too.

Of course I'll take the wins, but this thread is supposed to "Lay the Smack Down." Our lack of scoring when compared to all other offensive statistics is pretty glaring. We only have 4 offensive turnovers all year (3 of which came in one game), we're 3rd overall in rushing, 7th overall in total yards/game, yet a paltry 23rd in scoring. 23rd. Let it sink in. Points win games. Fortunately our defense is bailing us out. We have to score more.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs Browns)

We do need to score more. We need to turn "almost" drives into field goals and turn field goals into touchdowns.

The defense needs to see the ball in its hands more and put points of its own on the board.

And Randle El needs to stop running into Redskins. Against the Rams he had a good return stopped when he ran into a Redskin and was stopped at the 1 when he ran into Thrash, causing Thrash to be injured.

5-2 is the only mark that matters.

I think people get too caught up in the stats. A win is a win.

Great point. Is M. Kelly healthy, I don't see him on the injury report? I'd really like to see us take a shot or two with him in the Red Zone. He's a big, physical, athletic target. Inside the 20, take a shot with him on a fade a couple times a game and let the kid make a play. Same thing could be done with Davis if we get him matched up on the outside with a SS or LB. Even if they don't make the play, it makes the D play more honest covering the outside corner in the RZ.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs Browns)

Penalties - while few of them, really threw at least two drives out of sync. The first one was on Sellers, which negated a long Portis run. The second one was a hold on Samuels, which I believe did the same thing.

Fumblelitis - In the past two games, the offense has coughed up the ball 5 times and lost 4 of them, including two by Cooley. Come on guys, let's hold on to the ball. It's not like we played a top 5 defense.

Pass Rush - It's nice that we can get in a QBs face and bat down passes, but we need to start getting to the QB.

Attitude - I am not sure if this is a "problem" but this year's league is crazy. We can't overlook any teams from now on, even the lowly Lions. We need to play with the same hunger that we had against Dallas and Philly on the road. Oh and not to forget that we play all of the division teams again at home. Yes it is at home, but we still have to play them and we have to show up. Our team has a shot at being a division winner, they have the talent to do so.
