Re: 2009 Free Agents
If we pick up a Free Agent OL, we should not break the bank. We should not pick up any pricey FA. If these guys are not expensive....
1) Jason Brown (Ravens) 6'3" 320 pounds-Possesses a great blend of quickness and explosiveness off the ball. Price? 2) Mark Tauscher (Green Bay) 6'3" 316-Good player but will be too expensive. 3) Stacy Andrews (Bengals) 6'7" 345- Serious right knee injury in Game 15, Dec. 21 at Cleveland. Only 28. Plays RT. 4) Mike Goff (Chargers) 6'5" 311 pounds. A bit old at 32, but can still play. If price is right, would be ok. Not ideal. Last edited by Defensewins; 01-03-2009 at 05:45 PM. |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Id like to keep Kendall for atleast one more season, he still could serve some good on the line.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
I have always liked Correll Buckhalter, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles. He is a good #2 RB.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
WE need O line before D line. I would love to get Suggs and Haynesworth, but it was our D that kept this team from going 6-10. Our O line is old and getting decrepit. IF we had the line we had a few years ago we would have probably been in the playoffs, but now they are all injury prone. I still say use the draft a bit more than FA. You can get kids that are cheaper and have them around for the standard 4 year deal, and if they develop you have yourself a great line to build a real team around.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Another possibility would be to replace MW with another Auburn standout, Karlos Dansby. He was the Cards franchise player this season.
And it's pretty pointless to talk about Suggs, 99.9% chance the Ravens franchise him for next season |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
I think Jordan Cross would be an ideal free agency move. Bring in Shane Lechler and let Plackmeier Kick.
I can't see us picking up too many so called stars in free agency because it will come to bite us in the butt in about four years. I would like to see Matt Cassel come in though to replace Collins if he doesn't return. You'd have two guys waiting in the number two spot to take over if JC doesn't work out. Next year is his last year as starter or on the team if he doesn't improve. He has improved and I'm not calling for his head yet . . . . I'd steer away from too many FA additions because the FO hasn't had too much luck with it over the years. Last edited by Trample the Elderly; 01-04-2009 at 01:26 AM. |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
I've been talking about Dansby since last year. If not him, Crowder might not be bad at LB. Would definitely look at Gross or Carey for the OL

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Sproles is definitely not an every down back, which is how he's being used tonight with LTs injuries. He's so small and often goes down on first contact. But he's a great return guy, and would be a sweet change of pace back to pair with CP. San Diego would be dumb to let him go, especially with the way Michael Turner has panned out in Atlanta. However we have bigger needs than RB, and I don't how much $$ Sproles will cost.

We used to do this with the John Riggins, Joe Washington combo back in the day. I've always liked the 2 back system. |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
SD would be crazy to let Sproles go. Unless someone offers him a starting job I'd assume SD will push hard to keep him.
