There you go Skinny. Glad some of us caught that. Everyone was maybe a little to near sighted to see what Cooley was acually saying. It wasn't that he was kissing VC ass. He said " I don't want to "say" that there was poor coaching" But thats exactly what he wanted to say. IMO

Well there are 11 teams that did worst than we did along with four other teams that did as well as we did. So I wouldn't call us the least talented roster in the NFL. When we got 0-16 or somewhere close to that, then you can make that claim.

Washington ------8-8
San Diego--------8-8
New Orleans------8-8
Houston----------8-8
Denver-----------8-8
Buffalo--------7-9
San Francisco----7-9
Green Bay--------6-10
Jacksonville------5-11
Oakland----------5-11
Cleveland--------4-12
Cincinnati--------4-11-1
Seattle----------4-12
Kansas City------2-14
St. Louis---------2-14
Detroit-----------0-16

Like others said I am sick of Smoots bullshit and I still dont understand to this day why Blache would start him over Rogers.

IMO it is some kind of personal issue or ego.

I agree hooskins. Smoot is grasping at this point. And I just can't understand why we would deliberatly disrespect Rogers. Even if his hands aren't the "best" the guy is always in position to disrupt a big play. I'll take that. There has got to be more to it.

I don't remember Smoot staring in place of Rogers. I thought it was Hall.

Of course you remember Smoot staring. Staring at opposing WR's from the comfort of his standard 8 yard cushion, and then staring at the back of their jerseys as he got toasted repeatedly...

who said in place of? Hall put Rogers on the bench. I think what hooskins was saying is why is Smoot on the field at all. And why is Rogers on the bench?

SmootSmack what are you're thoughts on why Rogers is not on the field?

He's done some good things obviously but he's overall a bad GM. He can recognize some talent he should be a personel guy at best though having him be our GM is stupid.
I disagree 100%. Unless the pick is blatantly obvious (Sean Taylor at #5), then Cerrato is clueless.

I blame all of our free agency forays on Snyder and Snyder/Gibbs.

I truly believe that Cerrato is a draft guy. I really do. BUT, Cerrato has three main problems, IMO.

1. Cerrato cut his teeth with the Niners in the pre salary cap era, so he learned about the draft when picking the best available player was the best philosophy. He has not adjusted, at all, to the salary cap era drafting, which necessitates a needs based approach. You can't stock up on three receivers in a round when you have such glaring deficiencies with depth across both lines.

2. He is a horrible talent evaluator and often picks players for us much higher than they would ordinarily go in the draft. Look at the rookie WR's who made immediate impacts with their teams that were drafted after Devin Thomas.

3. To a lesser extent than #2, players are not chosen with respect to the system in which the coach coaches. A contributing factor to this is our myriad of coaching changes and therefore philosophies and how players become expendable under new coaches (Stephen Davis).

I thought hooskins said he didn't know why Blache started Smoot in front of Rogers.

I think it was a combination of things 1.) Springs getting healthy, when healthy he's our best corner 2) Rogers being slightly "injured" with the flu or whatever it was he has that gave the team an opening 3) Hall making plays.

Overall I think it was a message to Rogers to make some damn plays. Rogers is like the good friend you go to the movies and dinner with and always have a good time but you hope for something more. Hall is Champagne with the fishnet stockings, 6 inch high-heels, and possibly a missing tooth on the corner of 14th and T Streets, NW at 1am. At least you know you'll get something out of Champagne

Re: Chris Cooley Endorses Vinny Cerrato

I think Cooley was blaming the coaching along with it being a first year offense. I have no problem with that. That was a big part of the problem. A first year coach installing the WCO? Of course there are going to be some mistakes and growing pains. Depth can be shared with management AND the coaches. The coaches decided which players were to be active or not and who were to be brought up from the practice squad. I also think Smoot is right but is taking heat because he didn't have a good year. Nevertheless what he said is true. Games are won and lost in the trenches and a good pass rush definitely helps the defensive backfield. No question about it.
