I'm 100% the opposite. I'm not a type of guy who goes to the tailgate and gets hammered. But to me, what makes it worth driving 7 hours to DC to 2-3 games a year is the tailgating. Theres nothing like being at the staidum at 9am with a beer cracked, get a little buzz working and grilling... I love it.... of course there are a TON of idiots who are the entire reason for this decision. Does anyone know what "colors" they're going to be doing this with?

Re: Redskins to Restrict Large Tailgate Parties

I live in Texas and never had the pleasure of making a home game yet, but through the media and there web site I've seen a heard about the (DTC) Dead Tree Crew. I get the impression they are some tru die hard fans which I cant wait to get a chance to tailgate with them (You should see the fools in dallas or Texas).

So,what I'm asking is. Is the DTC a cause of this?

Re: Redskins to Restrict Large Tailgate Parties

Yea they definitely do not need to be making it harder for our already uptight fan base to let loose and get rowdy for our team. Tailgating helps to keep it so not everybody in the expensive seats is just sitting there quietly with their hands crossed! Terrible news

Damn, you guys were pretty close to the stadium. Now I got an idea why the tailgaters are upset. Anyway just for fun I'm going to wager that you're the guy in the Taylor jersey at 0:08.

It's always the idiots that ruin things for everyone else.

J-Dawg.
Sorry but my timing wasn't clear.

I had already decided that I wouldn't be renewing.

I have only tailgated once or twice so this isn't an issue for me personally.

It is just representative of the Daniel doing anything and everything to make an extra buck off the team, which is of course is his right.

When Fedex opened it had 78,000 seats. Now it is 90,000 but the building isn't any bigger.

In business schools, we always teach that there are three major elements of any thing you spend money on:
1. Product
2. Price and
3. Service
The general rule is you can get two out of three but not usually all three.

For years, it seems the Redskins are not delivering any of the three to their fans that pay to go to the stadium.

The product is not great. Haven't had a HOME playoff game in how many years?

Price: Not just the tickets, but the start to finish price for a day at the field is ridiculous.

Service: Escalators that don't work, lines everywhere. Pat down searches to make sure you don't smuggle in peanuts.

It just aint fun.

It just aint worth it.

Not to me.

Maybe to you

But not to me.

J-Dawg

The only lot where tailgating won't be allowed is the Platinum...they'll tailgate in the Purple lots

1. ...or any louder

2. ...SEVENTEEN YEARS and five months. Or January 12, 1992 to be exact, championship game - Redskins 41, Lions 10. Yeah I was at this game.

3. Fed Ex made my mom toss her bag of UTZ she forgot she had in her purse. She also had a pocket knife which she was able to keep. True story.

Re: Redskins to Restrict Large Tailgate Parties

Just one more thing that makes FedEx Field a logistical nightmare and a lousy place to go see a game. I get so much more out of the game watching it at home in HD anyway. The gameday experience is fun - it's great to grill burgers and dogs with friends and get a buzz on, but honestly, when I do that for football games, I don't get a lot from watching the game itself in the stands. Not nearly as much as I do in front of crisp HD with a DVR so you can rewind plays, pause for bathroom breaks and beer runs, etc etc.

I had the opportunity to buy season tickets this year and declined. It stinks to say, but I hate FedEx Field. I just happen to love the team that plays there. I'll probably go to one or two games this year, and that will be plenty.

Re: Redskins to Restrict Large Tailgate Parties

jgalecpa:

You have it right. The game-day experience at Fed Ex is not much fun anymore and it is nowhere near worth the cost on a season-ticket basis.

And since you can get single game seats to ANY game you want, you can pick and choose only the best games with the best weather.

If I wanted to be hammered - - or buzzed since 9:00AM - - while watching a game, I can do that at home in front of my HDTV anytime I want. Funny, but I don't choose to do that very often...

I'll probably pick two games to see live this year - - maybe one. I'll go with four or five friends. We will hire a limo to take us from one of our houses to the game and then to pick us up and drive us home afterwards. We will have had a few adult beverages; we will still be functional and rational - - but not necessarily legal for driving purposes after the game.

Total cost to me for those two games - getting prime seats even if we have to pay more than face value which we don't usually have to do plus limo plus our adult beverages and food along the way - will be far less than a decent season ticket without parking or any food costs.
