More deep passes.
More sacks.
A bad, bad man playing DT.
A healthy Malcolm Kelley.
An exciting new PR/KR.
Some good looking rookies.
An air of excitement and anticipation surrounding the team.
Most of all, the return of football! Whoo-hoo!

My preseason prediction, that Jeremy Bridges beats out Randy Thomas for the starting RG spot.
Do you think Thomas gets cut then?

Speaking of Thomas, I want to see how Robert Thomas and Chris Wilson do. Thomas may be a sleeper free agent. And I want to see if Wilson can make a full-time adjustment to playing linebacker. Other than that, I'm not really that interested in the defense. I'm not worried about them this year.

What I want to see is the offense, specifically the starters. I want to see that the off-season was put to some good use.

And, of course...Chase Daniel!!!!!

(on a related note, this morning was one of those "it's great to work here" days as I got to spend a little time chatting with Joe Gibbs about the Redskins and other things. He had nothing earth shattering to say really. Still, it was cool to chat)

Id want to see Thomas,Kelly and Davis producing on the field. the defense living in the opponents backfield and id also like to see CB go against some better competition as in the opponents defensive players.

Not sure it's worth it. They'll get much more out of practice than playing with/against scrubs.
This is on the surface part of why the nfl is considering 18 games w/2 preseason. It's a bogus front to me, they want 18 games for the revenue. Having 2 preseason games doesn't necessarily limit injuries, because KNOWN starters don't play that much in preseason.

Which brings me to my point; preseason games are needed for general practice & to decide roster spots & position battles. If DT & MK are in the running to start or move up the depth chart they need to get a lot of snaps in real game action, whether that's practice, scrimmages or preseason games.

I appreciate your point about limiting action in preseason, but I see it as applying to guys that are obvious starters. Everyone else needs to be evaluated and the only way to do that is in real game situations. I would think both those guys will get many more reps than Moss & ARE, but they likely won't be playing much in the 3rd & 4th quarters, which might be what you're saying.

Yes that's what I'm saying.

They will get their work, but not in the 3rd and 4th when the nobodies are in there.

I want to see the younger players step up and solidify their position on the team. I'm looking at the young wide receivers, including Fred Davis. I want to see crisp execution on offense. I want to see stellar play by the defensive front seven. I pretty confident the secondary will be okay.

Yep, I didn't include that, but I definitely want to see Williams abilities, and see if he has any chance to shine. I also would like to see Edwin Williams at center, I know he has gotten some good talk on the board, so it will be interesting to watch.

The O-line is always hard for me to judge, because of the trench work involved, but I would like to see all the T/G's we have get lots of time, so that they can find the "best" combination of guys in terms of their interactions with each other and being on the same page.

Re: I know "Preseason doesn't matter", but if it did...

again, no injuries

Dorsey/ Alridge competition goes well

Devin Thomas, Kelly, Mike Williams, Rinehart, Jeremy Bridges, Fred Davis, Orakpo, and Robert Thomas all playing like starters, if not with the starters

JC looking both comfortable and fiery

Unlike a comment above, I do not hope to see a more varied offense. I hope the schemes are downright boring in preseason on both sides of the ball. Only when it is the regular season should we show "wrinkles," although we should show many of them when the games count.

Re: I know "Preseason doesn't matter", but if it did...

(1) I want to see if the tempo picks up for the whole team.
(2) I want to see Hunter in action.
(3) RT, duh!
(4) It would also be nice to see AH put Brady out for another season.
(5) What I'm really looking forward to seeing are the stand-outs, who makes the team. IE: Mason, Chase, and an unknown UDFA?
(6) Why does Clinton need to touch the ball?
(7) The third, and possibly second, position for RB should be open for competition IMO. Is RC's time up? Betts should be the Pre-Season RB for the first quarter, then let's see who can win the thrid spot.
(8) Who's going to be the PR and KR guys?

Wow. That doesn't suck. Good stuff.

10 things I would like to see, in no particular order:

1) No significant injuries
2) The starting O-line to come together, with Bridges and Mike Williams playing at a high level
3) Orakpo getting to the QB a few times and looking comfortable while playing SLB if we really are going to insist on changing his position (which we shouldn't)
4) Thomas, Kelly, and Fred Davis all to play as much as possible and look crisp and comfortable while doing so. I know Kelly's knee is a concern, but I want to see what he's got. If he can't stay healthy in the preseason, he won't be able to stay healthy during the regular season. Play him.
5) Dominick Dorsey or Anthony Alridge to play well enough to make the roster and give us another dimension in the return game and out of the backfield
6) Jason to look sharp and decisive.
7) Colt to play well enough to unseat Todd Collins as the unquestioned #1 clip board holder
8) Kevin Barnes to beat out Smoot as the #3 corner
9) Robert Henson and/or Cody Glenn to play well enough to make the roster
10) Someone, anyone, to play well enough that we don't eff around too much with the whole Orakpo at SLB thing. I want to see his hand in the dirt, using that motor to terrorize QB's.

Figured you were after I went off on my tangent!

If you couldn't tell, I really think 18 games is a horrible idea. Even if preseason games are reduced, coaches will just schedule scrimmages. If anything, some coaches will just bring their teams along slowly & try to reduce reg. season pt for starters as well.

Has it really gotten to the point when some of us think that a 20 yard pass is a bomb? How about a 40+ yard pass for a TD instead?

The big question is : Will JC ever again complete a long pass in this offense? No wonder I hate Zorn's version of the East-West Coast Offense.

I would like to see us beat the paint of of the Patriots Jersey's. I'm talking about a 50+ point difference. Payback for last season and the preseason before is in order. I don't care if it is preseason I want to destroy those guys.
