Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
Well it depends on the QB...when it happened to Carlson Palmer it wasn't that big of a deal, when it happened to Brady it was national disaster apparently.

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
I thought the block was a little bit dirty, but he was just playing the game. Plus did anybody see the hit that came on the next play? I don't even remeber who it was because everyone is talking about that old man, but that was a hit worth talking about. They got the Vikings back...

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
It wasn't "dirty". Dirty means he went low and didn't care if he hurt him or not. I don't think you can draw the conclusion that he had any clue at all what he was doing. He just went low like a QB who hasn't actually had to block someone in 30 years would.

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
He clearly went low, and he clearly looked at the guy and picked his spot. as for whether he cared if he hurt him, did he go over to see, no, cuz he didn't care. He got up, looked quickly over and walked off. Can't see how anyone sees that as a clean hit under current rules. If you want to argue the rules are too soft, ok, I agree. But under current rules that will be called every time, and I bet he gets a pretty nice fine also.

Edit: Now if he does it again...then that's dirty. He should know better and be more prepared now. |

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
Looked clean to me. Little low, but I didn't think it should have been a penalty.

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
That was totally dirty. You don't block low like that. I mean, did you see how the guys knees buckled? Total cunt move!

I'm just wondering had Favre been in the pocket preparing to throw, and a defensive player came in and cross body blocked at/or below his knees' what the reaction would have been. Dirty or not dirty, these are the type plays that have often ended guys career's. A rule has been put in place to protect the QB from these type hits, and so it should be for any defenseless player. |

You want to see a dirty shot...and if your stomach can handle it (warning: it's really gross). Do a YouTube search for Axel Witsel

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
Excuses...please...you don't need to be a genius to know that you simple don't block low like that. Everyone that knows football knows you don't go after the legs of somebody and he clearly did. Hope he gets the same treatment and have his career ended with a nice little parting gift.

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
4. Crackback: Eligible receivers who take or move to a position more than two yards outside the tackle may not block an opponent below the waist if they then move back inside to block.
Childress needs to be very clear about this rule. Favre's block was clearly illegal. I don't think it was intentional though. But I can tell you in all the time I coached, I never taught going low on a crackback, I always had my players aim for the opponents ribcage. Someone on the Vikes coaching staff needs to get a clue since they're going to be running a good bit of the Wildcat with Harvin. On this play Favre just made a pussy block.
