but do you think he's let them down enough, combined w/Daniel's play, that he'll be on the PS or cut?

No, I still think Colt gets the edge. But who knows, I mean the #3 QB is someone you want to be able to develop and groom into possibly being a starter one day. Chase seems to be the better student of the game, so you could definitely develop him mentally but Colt has the physical advantages that Chase will never have. I think it's a much, much closer competition that anyone expected.

Sounds like a good humbling may have done him some good though. The cocky attitude that was turning some off seems to have melted away and perhaps that's the silver lining in all of this.

Man right now I just don't know how the #3 QB thing is going to shake out. I can really see it going either way.

Alridges' fumble last night was no less painful than watching your starting QB fumble three consecutive times in the same game. (reg. season) It can happen to anyone.

Well, my semi-trustworthy sources are saying Chase has a slight edge right now. Very slight

It amazes me how just a few plays can so rapidly change the minds of fans. The day before yesterday Redskins Insider had a poll showing Daniel the favorite by a vote of something like 70-30. After last night's game the poll completely flipped, this morning it was just the opposite.

It had been my belief all along that Brennan would win the #3 job, and nothing was done in any of these pre-season games to make me change that belief. To be fair though, Daniel had the odds stacked against him with a back line going against Jacksonville's starting defense. They were in his lap on just about every passing play.

My gut feeling is still that when the final roster is submitted it's Brennan on the roster.

Re: DCPSR: Final 53 Projection

I think last night Chase got a nice taste of working behind the backup oline against players that will actually play in the NFL this year and he was running for his life.

Colt has been playing behind that same backup line.

Let's just say most quarterbacks would struggle behind that so called "protection."

I agree Smack, I think Brennan was seriously humbled through his experiences thus far in his second year. Hopefully this will all serve to make him a better player, and next year he'll actuall be able to challenge for the #2spot on the roster asuming Campbell is still going to be here. I say that because depending on his progress, this could be Collins' last season here in Washington.

True, Colt was sacked 7 times, Chase 3. it would have been nice to see what they could do given they had time. but thats part of the game.

I think Zorn likes Chase more, in terms of "trainability" Of course that is purely my speculation, no real proof. I would not be surprised at all if Colt does not make it.

I would agree about the train-ability aspect. Still, he's put a lot of work into developing Colt and he may feel it's premature to give up on him. We'll see.

If you lose focus in the preseason trying to impress the coaches, what will you do in the regular season when you're trying to impress other teams enough to get a free agent deal?

Again, no excuses please. Because there are none.
