Meh. He's apologized for it already...

WASHINGTON (CNN) — GOP Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina issued a statement Wednesday night apologizing for his outburst during President Obama's speech to Congress:

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

This stupid f*ck face needs not apologize but he does need to read the house bill which explicitly prohibits extending healthcare to illegal immigrants (sec 246, page 143):

Quote:
Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States
Don't worry though folks, your current wait time at the emergency room won't improve with or without universal healthcare.

Actually, he absolutely needed to apologize. Despite being a Republican, I love that when this dingbat called the White House afterwards hoping to apologize to Obama, instead he got Rahm Emanuel on the phone. Man I wish I could have heard that conversation.

I'm a big believer in "if you said it you meant it and if you meant it you need not apologize." This dumbf*ck clearly meant what he said so an apology is neither necessary nor desired. Honestly though, the bar has been set so low by the GOP this is hardly surprising. Not telling a lie while screaming "you lie" is too much to ask? I find the recursive nature of his "you lie" scream hilarious and sad.

The problem with saying "This bill makes this or that unavailable to illegals" is that there are lots of laws that make lots of things unavailable to illegals (like their presence here to begin with) and they flout those laws. They're illegal see. The laws don't apply to them.

I see...so in a roundabout way the bill does provide illegals with coverage. I suppose by that same token the current heath care system as well as all public and private enterprises suffer from this same problem of fraud too. So the question becomes is the root of the problem the heath care bill itself? Will it be more satisfactory if we evict illegal immigrants first then enact heathcare?

Regardless of whether the law applies to them or not it's in the books. Is the language in the bill valid in the court of law, yes. Is it redundant, yes. I suspect section 246 was inserted to satisfy or disarm Republicans but apparently nothing seem to work on unsatisfiable men.

SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED

4
ALIENS.
5

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments
6

for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are
7 not lawfully present in the United States.

This deals with affordability credits and what the F is that. Have you read the entire bill to know for certain 100% that in no other sections that illegals cannot join into the plan?

We all know that these will be an easy plan to understand and the goverment will just play a small roll in administering the plan. Her is an example of them cutting out all the paper work:

(3) P

ROVISION OF INFORMATION.—The em
ployer provides the Health Choices Commissioner,
10

the Secretary of Labor, the Secretary of Health and
11

Human Services, and the Secretary of the Treasury,
12

as applicable, with such information as the Commis
sioner may require to ascertain compliance with the
14

requirements of this section.

There is no way anyone could just read the bill and understand it.

Firstdown........................I here you man! And thats why I was saying little words MUST be used to get his point across. His speech yesterday used those little words. And when a Republican bashed him for it................well, he ended up apologizing shortly there after. Obama and his administration just need to keep using those little words. If they keep using them, they will be fine. They will pass this bill.

Hey! Did anyone see the look on Nancy Pelosi's face when that dude called out the President? SHE WAS PISSED! I thought she was going to jump out of her chair, over the rail and smack that dude! Grab his tie, then smack him again! I can't help but think she kicked his ass afterwards. Thats probably why he apologized so fast.

Keep using them as the approval ratings and support for ObamaCare keep going in the toilet.....use big words, little words, it doesn't matter bad legislation is bad legislation.

Using whatever size words you like, the President indirectly backed off the public option, which is a win for all of us.

Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread

I love the movie A Few Good Men. One part that I love is the questioning of the base commander by Cruise. In that section, he repeatedly asks the commander if he ordered that the weakest soldier not be harmed, every time the commander responded more and more aggressively that he ordered the man not be harmed, and that he ordered a transfer of the man off the post. In a great moment, the lawyer asks, why the two orders. Excellent.

That's what I think of when Saden quotes the bill, saying it explicitly says not to pay illegals. if they are here illegally, and should not receive benefits anyways, why does it need to be written into the bill.

anyway thats my 2cents

I often see the world mathematically.

If the language to not give illegal immigrant heathcare is in the bill why does it matter whether it is in the bill? Does the bill weaken or strengthen their legal rights?

Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread

I thought the address was good, it showed Obama's willing to moderate on some issues and incorporate ideas from both sides of the aisle.

He said that everyone will be required to carry insurance, like auto insurance in Pennsylvania. I love that because no longer can the uninsured head to the emergency room for care on the insured's and the taxpayers' dime. Now everyone will have to pay into the system, nobody can get away with something for nothing - no handouts for anyone.

He said he wants to work to find ideas to bring down malpractice costs and looked to Republicans on those efforts. Love that.

I don't care about death panels, I don't care about hecklers, don't let yourselves get distracted from the real issues. Obama is willing to moderate and compromise and because of that I think we'll get a plan passed that makes sense and works.

Much detail needs to be ironed out, because when he says "we'll pay for this by eliminating wasteful spending from the healthcare system", one of the ways he currently plans to do this is by eliminating government subsidies to hospitals in very poor neighborhoods (like mine). That would crush us and could threaten to put us out of business in 10 years, leaving the poor with no access to care here in North Philly. That has to get worked through or he could do more harm than good. But the willingness to compromise on issues is encouraging.

Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread

So why would Obama pass health care bill that does not cover illegals because isn't illegals goinr to the emergency room just part of the problem. Maybe Obama's plan will just make it illegal to provide any medical treatment to illegals.
