Re: Washington Wizards 2009-2010 Ongoing Thread
Wonderful. I figured with the new players (Oberto, Miller, Foye) and new coaching staff it would take a while for the team to start gelling and playing playoff brand basketball. Losing 2 of our big 3 just two games in is not gonna help.
Here's hoping Caron gets back soon.

A family member described the system as being a system that it's all about getting the ball up court then it's pass, pass, pass, use up the clock and shoot. Our system we are using now is more of a get the ball up court and shoot style of system. Perhaps some of you will argue with me but I felt my family member was somewhat correct. As much as I liked Jordan as a coach I'm glad he's gone and we have moved on. It's nothing against Jordan it's just his system got old with me quick. |

Re: Washington Wizards 2009-2010 Ongoing Thread
On another note......
I was sooo pissed watching the Wiz/Cavs game. It seemed like the Refs were calling all the penalties on the Wiz and looked the other way when any of the Cavs committed fouls. I don't mean to sound like a sour puss. I know it may take another yr for Saunders to get his roster up to speed on the types of players he needs to run his system but it just seemed so one sided. Then last night against the Heat we seemed down by 10-15 points all game then after the half we kept it close. In the last 4 min. it seemed like the Refs were calling fouls against us again and not the Heat. Maybe you BB officianado's can correct me but both nights I had to change the channel cause I found myself yelling at a T.V. that obviously was not interacting with me or fixing the problem. lol. It left me wondering is there a possibility that the Refs could be doing this for a reason? I know we had different Refs for both games but I really felt that maybe Saunders had pissed off the Referee's in a previous life or are the Refs really trying to make sure the team that was supposed to win...won. Perhaps I'm wrong and someone can say.....no your wrong....but the Cavs game left me wanting to write the NBA about the game and wondering if Saunders was going to send the video to them for preview. I'm more of a Football/Hockey fan but have been getting interested in the Wiz recently. So maybe I'm way off. |

Re: Washington Wizards 2009-2010 Ongoing Thread
The refs in the Cavs game were pretty ridiculous, but it wasn't as bad against Miami. I was at the Miami game, and w just killed ourselves. Gil was forcing shots all night, and really had some bad decisions and weak execution at the end of the game. His stats illustrate how poorly he orchestrated our offense for stretches (33% shooting and 3 assists to 3 turnovers).
Deshawn missed both free throws with the game tied and under a minute left. Shame Miller was injured, because he would have been much better in the game than Stevenson down the stretch. Heck, I would have prefered Foye or Young. I hope Deshawn played himself out of the rotation last night. I'm a big fan of the team, and I think last night's game was more a reflection of Gil's rust and the newness of the system being implemented. We sure could have used Antawn. Like I said before, I'll be satisfied if we're at .500 once Antawn returns.

Sweet win over the Cavs after they were up by 7 going into halftime. I hate the bs call thats James gets, but nice to see we can get it done without Gil going crazy for 30.

GREAT WIN!
Antawn took no time to get back into the groove...I must also say that Earl Boykins was a great pickup. He's always been a sparkplug to any team he's been on and I've been a fan of his for years. (Love the midget PGs as I was one myself at 5'6")

I think it's good place for him to retire. Not sure how much he adds, but it would be nice to see him getting some love from the Sixers fans after all he's been through since leaving Philly.

Re: Washington Wizards 2009-2010 Ongoing Thread
I thought this would be the year that the Wizards really showed us that they're a first class team. However, I'm really fed up with Arenas. When are we ever going to get a real leader on the team? First, Arenas says some bad things about Butler, presumably because the team is losing ball games. Now Arenas can't even make free throws when the game is on the line. Arenas must be talking too much and taking advice from Clinton Portis!

The Wiz are very disappointing this year. They're also pretty gut wrenching lately with all the close losses. Any word on when we get Mike Miller back?

This is simple, you should have traded Arenas when he was worth a ton to other teams, now he's not. This guy is a career 42.6% shooter...he's the new Antoine Walker. He puts up good "numbers" to snow a lot of people, but has next to nothing for substance to lead a team. When you look deeper, you see serious issues. He only averages 5.4 assists per game too. He does NOT make others better around him, something leaders do.
