Re: Would Shanny prefer Dallas instead?

Dallas is not interested in Shanny. They have their future coach already on their staff in Jason Garrett. This is Shanny attempt to get more coin out of Snyder or Florio attempto put a wrench in the skins plans, because earlier in the week he was taschized by the franchise for rumors that he was speading that Vinny was going to still be apart of this team behind the scenes, started by LaVar Arrington in his interview with Florio on his radio show.

However if it is true and we don't get Shanny it is okay because this job has become very desirable around the league.

No Vinny
Got Talent
High draft pick
Owner with endless money more than willing to open his wallet
Coach friendly GM
Big Market rabid fan base

We have nothing to worry about we will get a quality Coach

Smoke and mirror's bro, smoke and mirror's.

Shanny informed Buffalo that if they wanted him they would have to pick up Allen also. He told them they would be a package deal.

........ who has Allen?

Reports out now saying Shanny told Snyder the same thing and thats why we picked up Allen. I'm telling you the deal was made back in Oct. around our bye when DS went to Denver to meet with Shanny.

I think we need to be more concerned with who Shanny will pick up as positions coach's and who he asks to be brought in as the scouting team.

Re: Would Shanny prefer Dallas instead?

Shanahan had a very hands off owner in Denver. JJ says he IS the GM, and Shanahan won't go for that, JJ would not give up control to BP, or Dan Reeves - in a consulting position, I can't see Shanahan going to that environment. Further, even though DS has been meddlesome, there is every indication that he wants to get away from that model, and in the past has been willing to at least share power with head coaches he respected, JG-Marty the first year - even Spurrier at first. I see no reason why Shanahan would not consider this his first best place.

Unfortunately, that is not the prevailing opinion of Dan Snyder.
The Danny is #1 problem with the skins...and his meddlesome ways are the reason....and everyone knows it.

At least the #2 problem is now gone

Well, I tend to think it is overblown, not that it is untrue, just overblown. I want to say SmootSmack has said that as well but I could be wrong. Regardless of that though, DS started to try to change that image at the press conference by stating that Bruce Allens decisions are Redskin decisions. Did he stumble, was it hard for him to say, yes and yes, but I think he is trying to impress upon Shanahan and others that he understands the concept.

Also if you listen to cowboys fans JJ is the #1 and #2 problem with the cowboys, from there its a 3 way tie between Wade, Garrett and JJ. so i think it is fair to ask why would Shanahan want to go into that evironment.

In terms of your comments on the quality of players. I would think Shanahan has enough ego to think he can fix any player related issue, so that would not be his deciding factor.

And media wise, Dallas and Washington have fair shares of media attention assuming any type of competitive team.

Maybe I've missed it but I haven't seen one person in this thread mention Bruce Allen. According to the insiders around the league, Shannahan and Allen were a packaged deal. Sure it's possible he may go somewhere else, but the fact of the matter is that Allen was virtually hand picked by Shannahan to run the front office.

True! This was mentioned once earlier in the thread but I'm glad that you magnified it. This is very important. We hold the trump card, it would seem.

There are insiders (not myself) who say that is not true, and Allen in no way guarantees Shanahan

Smoot, what do you think the chances are we get Shanahan? Or, put another way, what are the chances Jerry Jones DOESN'T want Shanahan?

Tough to say. San Diego is out now that they're going to (if they haven't already) give Norv Turner a contract extension. Bears are a longshot with the money they have tied to Lovie Smith and they're frugal habits. So that leaves Houston, Dallas, and DC as the most likely. And I think all have a pretty equal shot.

Dallas is closer to home for Shan Wow (Matty chose not to include my new nickname for Shanahan when he posted my text to him. That bastard-I'm adding him to my ignore list), and they already have a strong running game as well as Tony Romo (who Shanahan is a fan of, both are Eastern Illinois guys). So that's their advantage

Houston has probably the least "intrusive" owner and already has his son and many of his other former assistants on the staff. So that's their advantage.

The big question is really if JJ is willing to eat the cost of Jason Garrett or if he can convince Shanahan to keep him on the staff. Gun to my head today I'll say Shanahan ends up here. Cowboys either promote Garrett or bring back Mike Zimmer to be the head coach at a fraction of the cost they would pay someone like Shanahan. And Houston either stays with Kubiak if they make the playoffs, and if not goes after Bill Cowher (and short of that Leslie Frazier)

Re: Would Shanny prefer Dallas instead?

Interesting. I dont think money will be an important factor for Jones. According to PFT, he was offering to pay $25MM to host a boxing match there. I think a lot of what Florio writes is total crap, but i think he was on the money when he opined that Shanahan was just using Snyder to force Jerry Jones' hand.

Am I the only one who finds it laughable when people say that Snyder is more meddlesome than Jerry Jones? I mean JJ is the freaking GM of the team...shit, he probably tells Grimace Phillips what plays to call.
