Re: The Dark Side of Marvin Harrison

If he took out a drug dealer that was actually threatening to cause problems, i don't have a huge problem with it. Not as much as if he was going out and driving drunk, or harming law abiding citizens. It's not right that he took things into his own hands like that, but this just doesn't rank that highly on my outrage meter.

edit- that was a really good read, thanks for posting SS.

He almost murdered a 2 year-old kid and his family!

That's the "code" in the city. No one ever sees anything when a "brother" is involved.

Did I miss something because I never saw where they matched the gun to the bullets.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

"Harrison still had a number of plausible alibis, even if the gun hammer were to exactly match the markings left on the recovered casings (and ballistics tests would eventually prove that five of six casings did match)."

I dont think the HOF is supposed to be based on anything but your play. So if that is truly the case I would really want him in even if he continues to do bad things. In my view that would speak higher to the excellent play of Hall of Famers. I would look at like wow everyone in here is in here for one reason. Not because they were great guys off the field, or donated money to charity, or did lots of commercials for NFL Play 60, but only because they tore it up on the field again and again.

Another thing is if a receiver got in while Harrison waited indefinitely, does that mean that this receiver might just be a nicer guy off the field and not a better player than Harrison on the field? In my view that diminishes the greatness of the players in there.

If the HOF is also slightly based off of being a stand up guy and not just a great player then I take all that back, im 100% with you. I wouldn’t want him in either.

If he does get in, which I think he will, what will be a huge question will be does he speak at the induction? Does he even show up? Is he even alive by the time he gets in (I bet he gets killed in the next 7 years).

Irvin got in and OJ was allowed to stay, so I have no doubts this will affect his chances. It may affect the welcome he gets from the fans of other players going in but that's probably about it.

If he starts smoking crack now, that won't keep him out of the hall of fame, he is not in football anymore........

Doesn't keep you out if you did it while still playing.

Being racist doesn't affect it either:

That to me was more of a back handed complement if anything. I think the word racist gets thrown around just a little to much.

Yeah suggesting his greatgrandma had an adulterous affair with a black guy, and that explains his mobility because he sure dont look like a guy who can run. Certainly not racist.

While i agree people love to throw around racism, this is one. Anyone see how Al Sharpton been defending that senator Reid, hilarious.
