Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade

Too many older FA Wrs in here for just competition in my view. You want to increase the competition just sign a bunch of undrafted guys. I think to be honest that the Shanny/Allen faction does not like the look of our WR corp. It is time to take off the blinders and to quit sipping the Kool Aid with these guys I guess. My guess is Kelly might be the only one safe if they indeed were looking to shop around Thomas. Mitchell is definitely under the gun. IF the FO thought the WR corp was set they wouldn't have signed so many WRs just for competition. They don't like what they see as a whole.

Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears selected Wade in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. His best season with the team came in 2004 when he caught forty-two passes for 481 yards. In 2005, Wade saw more playing time as a punt returner and scored the first touchdown of his career during the second week of the 2005 season. 2005 also saw 10 fumbles on the season by Wade, including four fumbles in one game.[2] He was released by the Bears late in the 2005 season.

10 fumbles in 2005, with 4 in one game. The NFL.com stats only state 10 receptions all season, and apparently 33 punt returns. That would mean he fumbled 23% of the time he touched the ball. That's almost like playing for the other team. He'd be the perfect receiver for Rex Grossman. <grin>

Camp fodder, definitely not there in September. We just need more competition, bodies in practice and older football players to mentor the young ones. May motivate people more if they think their job is on the line.

He's a 4th or 5th WR at best. Shit, he's a Redskin now, and his player profile on NFL.com currently has him listed a KC Chief, and he's wearing a Minnesota uniform in his profile pic. Pretty much all you need to know about this signing.

Great replacement for Randel El if Wade is going to return punts in the chance that Austin doesn't work out well for us.

Wow, this is bad news for Mitchell. He'll have to prove he's better than Kelly or DT or beast on ST. It's obvious Shanahan doesn't like our current WR's.

Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade

Signing both Galloway and Wade has me wondering if one of our other WRs is hurt and we just don't know about it. Maybe there's someone who won't be participating in mini-camp and just a little in training camp so we need bodies.

Though I can certainly see Wade cracking the final roster

any possibility that it's more for return duties? He did that back in Chicago. His fumbles would worry me in that regard tho.

Competition folks, you sign all these guys to make it through all the camps. I know everyone wants to over analyze every move, but sometimes a move is just a move. It doesn't mean TO is coming, Moss is getting cut, AH is getting traded, and Colt is the new starter. Chiiiiiilllllllll

I like that Shanny is backing up his words about open competition in camp. I have noticed a couple trends though, they used several picks in the draft on O line, but the fa signings (aside from Hicks, Buchanon) have mainly been D line & WR. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just going from memory.

Sign 'em all and let God sort it out.

Or for you atheists: Sign 'em all and let Science figure it out.

For everyone else: Sign 'em all and reach a mutually agreeable consensus that doesn't make you feel uncomfortable.

Seriously, this is one of those "so what signings". He makes it - great. He doesn't - fine. Does it have a deeper meaning as to how the Skins few Kelly or Thomas? Probably not. Even if it does, do we have any hope doing more than guessing what that meaning is? Nope.

We won't have to worry about complacency setting in among this W/R group. With competition, none of these guys can afford to adopt that "I've got it made" attitude or that their position on the team is safe.
