Haynesworth told Bruce Allen yesterday that he wasn't going to speak with Shanahan anymore. WTF. What a pile of shit this guy is.

I think it is more of a matter that AH had 35m of the owners $$ and he would like to get some back
Building a case...
Could only suspend him for 4 games...
Keeping him around to build the case....

Not quite. They kept him purely because of the money involved, and example it would have shown had they did so. You don't give a man 21 million dollars (after asking him over and over if he was going to cooperate) and then cut him without him giving money back. That's exactly what he wanted. You also don't trade him for unless he gives money back for the exact same reason. Listen to Shanny and read between the lines. Hell, he was direct about it. He flat out said that AH wasn't going anywhere (released or traded) unless he was willing to give some of that money back.

Shanny is smart and knows what he's doing. The players hate AH and for the coach to let this douche bag to get his way, it would have open the floodgates for the rest of the idiots in the league to do the same thing. You mean I can get paid upfront money, act like a douche bag, get cut/traded and get more money? WHERE DO I SIGN UP AT? This way, he sits at home and rots.

Your argument doesn't work because "they" didn't give him the money. Just because AH was paid by Vinny/Snyder then cut by Shanahan/Allen, doesn't mean that Shanahan/Allen would pay a player then cut them. The trick is to avoid paying the player in the first place, and only Vinny and Snyder are to blame for that. I have confidence in Shanahan and Allen to find committed players and pass on the slouches.

And, I don't think Shanahan or Allen care about the money.

That is my thought too!! Why should we release him so he can sign somewhere else and then grin up in the cameras because he was another person that came to washington to get paid and not play like they did to get the big contract.

1) Adam Archuleta
Redskins, in 2006, paid him a seven-year, $35 million deal that included $10 million up front.

2) Jeff George
George got a four-year, $18 million pact -- to back up Johnson.

3) Brandon Lloyd
Washington traded third- and fourth-round picks to the 49ers, then gave Lloyd -- before he'd ever taken an offseason rep -- a $31 million deal with more than $10 million up front.

4) Deion Sanders
At 32 years old, Sanders was released by Dallas and was immediately signed -- get this -- to a seven-year, $56 million deal that included a $8 million bonus.

5) Jeremiah Trotter
Washington signed its former division rival to a seven-year, $35 million deal that came with $7 million guaranteed.

Bruce Smith deserves dishonarable mention also.

bigdaddy2348:

Funny you should mention Trotter because there is an interesting parallel here.

Recall how the Skins got to sign Trotter to that big deal - - at the time. Trotter had been given the "franchise tag" by the Eagles and he was pissed about that. He and Andy Reid had a public war of words and when Reid refused to take off the franchise tag - - or to guarantee in the one-year deal that he would not use it on Trotter again the next year - - Trotter made a real annoyance of himself.

Once Reid and DC Jim Johnson realized that they had a viable back-up at MLB, the Eagles took the tag off of Trotter and let him become a free agent.

The Skins signed him and asked him to do something he had never shown he could do well in his entire NFL career - - pass coverage. After a while, that did not work out here and the Skins cut him. Where did he go? Back to Andy Reid who told Trotter they had a job for him doing what he was suited to do - - but at a much lower rate of pay. Trotter took the job and spent a couple more years in the league.

Andy Reid and his coaches made a decision on Trotter to franchise him. They stuck to it; they never insulted him or humilated him - - but they franchised him and never wavered on how they were going to do business with him. When the Trotter/Redskins marriage fell apart, there was a professional relationship still in place for Reid and Trotter to act upon.

I seriously doubt that is the case with Shanahan/Haslett/Haynesworth/whomever...

Trotter was simply not the headache that AH was. But he played like crap here, for what ever reason...

Hopefully they'll get something for him in the off season but his value is at an all time low. But I still say they shouldn't release him. Try and get something.

Why would a team trade anything for him?

They won't. I we release him I don't even think anyone would claim him off waivers. He'll eventually wind up somewhere though, probably Tennessee or Detroit.

I wonder how much money they can recoup from this 4 game suspension?

Haynesworth's contract has in it his base salary for the 2010 season. That is DIFFERENT FROM the roster bonus he got in 2010.

Whatever that base salary is, the Skins can get 4/16ths of it (25%) of it by not issuing him paychecks for the four games he is suspended.

The NFLPA WILL contest this suspension unless there is video evidence demonstrating Haynesworth molesting the team puppy out at Redskins Park. I have no idea if they will prevail, but they will appeal this decision through the processes established in the CBA.
