Re: ESPN Unveils 2013 Jaws’ QB Countdown List
Don't have a problem with RGIII, Cap, Wilson, and Luck lumped together in any order. At least until RGII proves in game time that the limp is gone. If Luck is lower than 10, he's overrated IMO.
I think Sanchez is overrated at #28, should be more like #32. Stafford's overrated at #16, should be more like #21. |

I like Jaws. And he will change his tune within weeks when he sees that Griff's knee is okie-dokie.

Jaws should remove the 1 in front of the 3 and he would only be 2 spots off from being right.

Re: ESPN Unveils 2013 Jaws’ QB Countdown List
I think Jaws is a little stuck in the 'traditional QB' model and discounts RG3 as a QB as a result. The injury can be the only reason to rank him below Wilson or Kaepernick.
13 isn't an insult but it is lower than he should have been ranked.. The bigger issue to me is that he's ranked below Matt Schaub.. The guy has trouble staying healthy and hasn't won a playoff game, right?

I don't have any issue with docking Griffin a couple points for his knee injury, and 13th isn't necessarily underrating RG3, but there will be guys ranked ahead of him that are there because of how they look when playing instead of how they actually play. It's not always a white/black thing because people have been dogging Romo/Rivers/Chad Pennington for years for not looking exactly like Manning/Brady/Elway/Marino. As if being a poor man's anyone is a desirable trait.

Durability and the ability to play smart (protecting one's self) has to be a factor folks.

Re: ESPN Unveils 2013 Jaws’ QB Countdown List
Why bother to get this list right when there's just going to be another next year?

Basically Griffin is being ranked behind those guys because of his knee issues. He had torn 2 Acls in his young football career so most people will label him injury prone. Kaep to me is not better than the other 3 and this yr he will.take a step back.

Luck is an NFL insider's son. That's Oliver's boy who just threw that interception. Like father like son.

Re: ESPN Unveils 2013 Jaws’ QB Countdown List
RG3 is behind those guys because he was not asked to do what the others were asked to do in the passing game. That's a fair evaluation. Wilson won a playoff game and threw all over the Atl defense in their loss. Kap got his team to the SB. Luck right now is a better pocket passer than RG3. RG3 needs to show that he can read the entire field, come off to his 2nd and 3rd options and make accurate throws from the pocket. He's capable but he didn't have enough big passing days as some of the others did. I think Jaws was fair in his evaluation.

An unhealthy RG3 outperformed Luck in each of their playoff games, and RG3 played against the better defense and had no knee. Luck is just Matt Stafford but with a weaker arm, in terms of lots of yards, but also a lot of turnovers and a bad completion percentage. Wilson and Colin have an argument, I think they both played big in big moments. Luck right now has a lot more to prove but all the ESPN folks want to be proven right with Luck so they of course overrate him. |
