Gildon was a major disappointment last year - and to some extent for the last year and a half in Pitts. Gibbs likes vets - but not ones that seem to be on the downside of their career. Trotter is not the kind of player that Cowher tends to want at LB. Steelers' LBs have to be able to cover receivers and that is what Trotter has never been able to do well. I see this as a very unlikely trade.

I'm confused, MattyK72.
I put up a post about a month or so ago asking if people thought as I did, that Trotter was going to be gone soon since we were looking at so many linebackers. Your answer to why we were doing that was "quite simply, depth." I knew that was not the case and was surprised by your curt, short, smart ass answer. I also thought that was one of the stupidest answers I had ever heard. Now you seem to be down on Trotter, calling him a high priced LB coming off two mediocre seasons... What gives? You seem to change positions on things more than your underwear, and you come off as some authority who knows everything just because you are one of the moderators of this site. Well, allow me to say- I TOLD YOU SO! |

Trotter lead the team in tackles for the same reason Iffy was second... The D-line sucked and he would tackle them, or they would out run him and Iffy would get the tackle. Getting Warrick from the bears would be a huge upgrade and we would have a young and fast linebacker core that will make Williams lick his chops and send blitzs left and right the way teams did to us. If we added Taylor in teh draft our D will have fun messing up QBs rythem

A lot of peopel beleive that Urlacher is only as good as he is because he plays next to him... Now I dont knwo how much I beleive that becuase ive seen plenty of highlight reals from Urlacher and hes definitly a gifted player. But ive read a lot about peopel in Chicago wishing Warrick had the big contract. If hes one of those players that makes things happen that show up on other peoples stats then Lavar would have a field day playing with him as well.

If you had been on this board for any amount of time, you'd realize that we all can be called for similar inconsistencies. People's opinions do change. It's a fact of the world. I don't take offense to you pointing out what you did, but I do take offense to your public censure of matty. Funny how the offseason makes people testy. |

Besides most people here were basing trotter's lack of peformance on the fact that we had no coordinater, trotter can still be an all pro but he has to be put into an attack style schme were he is alway's shooting a gap and blowing up a backfield, william's although a very attack style coordinater need's to have LB's who can jump out and pick up a reciever while a corner or saftey blitzes, and trotter can't do that, as well he has no instinct as a conventional LB, just because he's out of here is not neccesarily an indictment that he can't play, but a lot of thing's where said not knowing who would be our coordinater, and how he will approach a defensive scheme.
