Re: Redskins name Bruce Allen Team President/ GM
Wasn't he the guy that helped the Vikings set NFL records with Carter, Moss and Culpepper?

Re: Redskins name Bruce Allen Team President/ GM
I remember when Josh McDaniels was highly touted as an excellent head coach candidate and was considered to have an "exceptional" (although short) career because he worked in Belichick's offense. Yet he went to Denver and drove that organization into the ground.

I don't know why you are bothering with satan, oops I mean saden. Local troll. Saden's posts are all opinion and emotion, but treats it as fact. Unreasonable people aren't worth trying to reason with.

Re: Redskins name Bruce Allen Team President/ GM
My OPINION, is that the FO decisions have seemed more logical, patient, and less of a quick fix mentality since Bruce has been here. Like someone else said earlier in this thread, even the Shanahan departure, head coach search, and Gruden transition was less of a circus than in the past. I'm cautiously optimistic about this FO. I will admit, saden may be right in the end, I fear that Danny is still too involved and I fear that it's more of the same old BS, but it is not an inevitability, and I'm hoping we continue to see progress in the organization both on the field and behind the scenes. And it's not like Gruden isn't qualified. He's not Zorn 2.0.

Re: Redskins name Bruce Allen Team President/ GM
As I stated in the other thread (Morroco Brown), I wondered if this move could potentially set up another move in the near future with them bringing in(or promoting) a real GM.
I'm as anti-Snyder as they come, but I'm realistic about things as well. Snyder is a huge douche bag and would steal money from a blind man's cup. He's a egotistical whimp with a very low self-esteem, and doesn't understand what PR is if it hit him in the ass. That said, I don't think Snyder has had a hand in decisions (football related) since Vinny was fired. I think Mike had full control, and I think he'll allow Bruce to continue doing his thing. As far as I'm concerned, Snyder isn't responsible for the product on the field beyond hiring the GM/Coach. Now, I don't really care about some title that Bruce is getting. There are some things I love about Bruce and other things I simply don't trust him with. I think Bruce is fantastic at doing contracts, making trades, managing the salary cap, and promoting a good image of the team. I don't think there is a better guy in the league at doing these sort of things. Where I question Bruce is with personnel decisions in regards to players. I simply don't trust his ability to judge/pick players, and nothing about his career would convince me otherwise. I liked the Jay Gruden hire, and felt we needed a good young coach in here who's hungry to make a name for himself. I think Jay could be that guy. He's smart, he's passionate, and he knows the game. What I do not like about Jay is that he decided to go with a horrible choice for a DC in his first coaching gig. Friends is friends, but this is a business. I fear that if Haslett doesn't make the grade and is fired at the end of the season, Jay will already be a season in the hole trying to climb out of. That's when coaches/GMs start getting desperate. Overall, I like the staff (minus Haslett/Williams) but I'm not very optimistic they are going to succeed. I think this all hinges on the defense (and RGIIIs play) and I'm sure as hell not confident about that aspect. Hope Haslett proves me wrong. I won't say this regime is going to fail or they can't succeed. That's ludicrous to say at this time.
