Rex, Jeff Fisher, and Gregg Williams will all be out there for Defense Coordinator, but i think there is next to no chance that Williams comes back here. I have frequently been wrong here before but I think i'm right about Williams.

Jeff Fisher or Rex Ryan would both bring respectability to the defense, something I don't think we will have here as long as Barry is around...

I agree Chico, Tomlin has kept the high standard set by Cowher. If Tomlin was mediocre, that high standard would have gone down a notch.

He has won one superbowl in 10 years with a good front office, good defensive coordinator, and HOF QB.

Tomlin definitely walked into a good thing, but he has also kept them competitive year in and year out. Sometimes with major injuries, or a piss poor oline, or just not a whole lot of talent - certain years. It always seems like they are going to go into a rebuild and they remain very competitive. Ben has a lot to do with it but so does Tomlin. He is not legendary but he is a great coach. So is Harbaugh. There is a difference between great and genius. A genius he is not. Ill give you that. But them is some high standards.

The same thing I've been saying about Tomlin. His first few seasons, he was winning off the residuals of Cowher. Now, he's just taking advantage of what you mentioned above (although, he no longer has LeBeau).

I also think Tomlin is a "rah-rah" guy. I've even stated as much to a handful of friends who happen to be Steeler fans.

I think you're not giving the man enough credit for a SB win. Do you know how hard it is to even make it to the game? There are a lot of great coaches and players that played their entire careers without winning or even making it to the big game.

If you think going to 2 SB's and winning one doesn't mean jack for a head coach (who literally controls the majority of day-to-day operations for the entire team) then you are not giving him his due. Even if you want to detract by saying he had a good team and coordinators around him, that's the f'n guy who decided to make sure he had them around him. Those are the decisions the head coach has to make. The GM doesn't decide who the head coach's coordinators are. You think the GM gave Tomlin no input on who made the final roster? In what world would they win a championship with minimal input from the head coach?

I fucking wish Jay Gruden was smart enough to know Joe Barry was gonna waste his time for two years instead of deciding not to hire him right off the bat. I fucking wish our team had coordinators so smart that Gruden could delegate all the responsibility to them so he could stand on the sidelines and make his biggest decision "should I challenge this play or not?" What is the singular goal of every head coach in every major sport? It's not "make this organization rich again." It's "win some motherfucking, goddamn, glory-hogging championships!" That's it. Everything they do centers around that.

So when you have a head coach who actually manages to get there twice and win one, you acknowledge and respect that fact. Saying he won games early the back of Cowher (who literally won one championship in his 15th fucking season) is like saying he found a lotto ticket and decided to check it for shits and giggles. Do you even know how much work goes into being an NFL head coach? Fuckin' a. You think he's Steve Spurrier'ing up in this bitch, working his 9-5 and going golfing during free agency?

Do you know why the best head coaches are successful? It's because they fucking eat, breathe, sleep, and dream football. You are kidding yourself if you think 100 wins in 10 years happens while the head coach is coasting, or as Bradshaw says "cheerleading." But maybe I should take Bradshaw's word for it, because he basically won his championships while cheerleading his defense and his playmakers.

You are correct and to me his resume says "Hall of Very Good". He is standing next to Pete Carroll, John Harbaugh, Sean Payton, Mike MacCarthey, and Gary Kubiak.

Time will tell if one of them makes it in the Hall of Fame. One ring no longer puts you in the category of great.

You should go to the playoffs with a HOF QB, Le'Veon Bell, and Antonio Brown.

You are correct, I would take his results every year. You are not in the NFL for 10+ years if you not coach.

Back to the redskins, I wouldn't want Ryan, Fisher or Williams as our DC. Ryan and Fisher have egos that would get in the way and screw up the chemistry of the team, and I wouldn't trust Williams. Don't get me wrong, if love to upgrade at D coordinator but just not with these guys.

Btw, speaking of Barry, I hope he blitzes the shit out of Eli right out of the box, even if we get torched a bit. Signal to McAdoo that if he leaves him in, he risks us knocking him out of the playoffs. Repeat until we do or McAdoo pulls him.

Again there is good, great, and genius. Gibbs was a genius. Tomlin is great. Kubiak is good. If Tomlin was coaching the Broncos I bet they make the playoffs this year. He would have mustered two more wins out of Denver. Which makes him great.
