Regarding the high number of WR's.... before we got Thrash, Coles was the only proven NFL starting caliber WR on our roster. I think you guys are jumping the gun with proclaiming Taylor Jacobs a sure thing #2 NFL reciever. I think Gibbs just wanted some insurance in case Jacobs and Gardner have another bad year. I think you're right Defensewins. We shouldn't trade him for just a draft pick. We know what we have in him, a solid #2 receiver. McCants, though I'd like to think more of him, is still unproven as a starter- though I think he could be. And I don't want Thrash being our #2. We should probably hang onto Gardner unless someone offers us a really good DE or DT, which they probably wouldn't...

No, I don't think Matty understood... He was treating you like dirt Defense and is now simply trying to cover up!! You should respond in kind Defense!! (flame war flame war!! woo hooooo!!)

Ade Fan Club makes sense of it all
Hey, what do y'all think we could get for Ramsey AND Trotter AND Gardner AND Trung AND Iffy AND our 4th round draft picks from 2005 to 2032? Yeesh almighty! So many iterations and permeatations - my head is spinning around faster than Ade trying to cover Terrel Owens!
Here are my two cents: Ramsey - he's staying. Learn from Brunnell. Get water. Towels. Etc... Trotter - I like him as a player, but I just don't think we should see each other anymore, time to go our separate ways. It's not you. It's me.... Gardner - I am the only one who still likes him and thinks he is WAY better than any other receiver on the team (OK, Coles is a close second - because he had a great year last year with Gardner drawing all of the coverage). Trung - let's see how speedy you really are - run on over to that "Exit Door" and just keep running till we say "STOP". Further, further.... Iffy - you're ok, but not great. So is lite beer. I'd rather have a ice-cold draft of Taylor any day over a twelve-pack of Iffy Lite. Better buzz... |

Yes. In all of the known universe, no one agrees with you and you are the only living being to hold that opinion. (Well, maybe a small enclave on alpha-centari 4, but they are all wack jobs who drink wine coolers and root for the cowboys so their opininions don't matter) We're all against you Ade. Feeling paranoid yet? |

LOL!
Ade, whoever it was who said you were the funniest person posting was not lying... Your line about Trung nearly made me spit DMD all over my keyboard. Defensewins convinced me we should keep Gardner, so there might be more support out there for that idea than you think! |

I'm just not buying it that we would get much for Rod Gardner. Mark Maske hit the nail on the head when he said that nobody will mistake Gardner for a Pro Bowler. I thought he showed promise after the '02 season. But really, he's a so-so receiver that doesn't really scare opposing defenses.
Only problem is, the rest of our wideouts behind him are a big question mark. I agree with Defensewins -- what's with all the sudden faith in Taylor Jacobs? Sure he deserves a shot at a starting job, but come on, I'm not ready to throw all my money on him quite yet. McCants could be good -- and has a knack for coming up with the big catch when we need it. Bottom line is, don't expect a whole lot for Rod Gardner. For that reason, I say we stick with him for his contract year. Otherwise, losing him for a 3rd rounder could be worse than whatever we could get for him. |

Ouch! Westbrook the 2nd is below the belt!
But which Baltimore player or players would you send those 2 in exchange for Offiss? |

I don't think Gardner is exactly Westbrook, Part Deux. He hasn't taken any cheap shots at any running backs...
Yet. But seriously, I don't have any/many problems with Gardner. He sure doesn't have the Westbrook atitude! If he stays, then fine, because Gibbs will only keep him if he's doing his part. But if we can get good value for him, trade away.
