i seen a rumor going around that we may trade our draft pick to the patriots if Sean Taylor is still available when our pick comes. It would be for their 1st, 2nd, and ty law. how true do you guys think this is.

Diehard, the Patriots have two picks in each of the first two rounds. So have you heard specifically which picks they'll be giving up? Problem I would have with the trade is with Smoot and Springs where does Law fit in (would he play safety?) and financially can we afford Law, plus the draft picks

The Canuck would be able to elaborate with his insight on the past years numbers but in my estimation it will cost a 10-12m signing bonus for Taylor and a 1-2m bonus for Watson. Where is the money going to come from this season fellas let alone down the road. We all ready have a credit card mentality to spending and cap budget without the 13-15m dollars in bonus money these players bring us. Mean while in the scenario that we trade for 21, 32 and 56 picks the bonus money would be substantially less (approx 8m cumulatively I am guessing)
From what I have been able to come up with on various draft board's it look's like watson will go in the top 1/3 of the second rd., If he does jump up the board that far [1st rd.] we may look at peter's as an alternative, he look's like more of what we want out of a TE, he probabaly would need some work if we wanted to use him in the passing game, although he is said to have good hand's, If we did take watson late 1st we would have to find a lineman in the 2nd rd., I as a lot of us really am not that up to date with how we can fit these player's in money wise? But I think we will find a way.

law's contract is way too pricey for us in our cap situation, but on the off chance (probably less than 1% chance) he would rework his contract, does he have the size and durability to possibly play free safety? I'm more interested in getting the 1st rounders and one of the 2nd rounders and then trading pick 21 down and picking up a 3rd and/or 4th plus a late first rounder and then drafting the best safety available, if worth the pick, or best d-lineman. draft jake grove with the #32 pick and then use the 2nd rounder on either boulware(possibly convert him to safety) or draft sean jones if he's still available. Our new 3rd or 4th rounder could then be used to still draft a young player who would be a good if not perfect fit for the h-back spot.

hed never take a contract we could afford, him and champ are the best two corners in the league. He would want, and deserve to play corner for us. He balked at the patriots offer that guarenteed the 14 million over the next two years that he is guarenteed in his contract

Ty Law is the best corner in the league, but we can't afford his salary.
