To be honest with you. Chad Pennington's career is almost over. His rotator cuff injury is being played down until the Jets can get an experienced QB to replace him. He underwent major surgery this summer and unfortunately hasn't had the time to heal completely. But the Jets will make the playoffs.

I believe Coles' argument was that he wasn't getting the deep pass consistenly. And he won't get the deep ball with Pennington either.

Re: Anyone else pissed that Cleveland got a 5th rounder for Andre Davis?

If we didn't have Antonio Brown, I'd be upset that the Skins didn't offer a 4th round pick for him. In 2002, he had over 1000 yards just returning kicks (21.4 yd average) and last year he took a pass reception 99 yards to the house. He is capable of big plays and has sure hands. Davis was a bargain to the Pats for a #5.

Gardner, on the other hand, was inconsistent and was not a big play threat. Yeah, he caught a lot of balls, but he dropped too many big ones. I was happy that the Skins got anything for him. Now, if he becomes a monster in Carolina, I'll be more upset.

The real question we should be considering is, what if Clinton Portis fails to become a game breaker this year and Ricky Williams comes onto the market? Do we deal?

Naw, we keep Ricky away from the Skins, even if he has a good year. I still think he has some reservations about football beyond this year. He just doesn't sound too convincing in his interviews about playing football for the long-haul. Furthermore, I'd be surprised if Portis didn't have a good year, I'm betting Pro Bowl. Besides he seems to be committed to helping the Skins win. We'll see....

SUNRA,

I don't understand why you dislike Ramsey so much when you defended Brunell so much last season. Brunell was god awful in 9 games. Ramsey has played poorly in games and very good in others.

Granted Ramsey threw two picks last week that cost us points, but he also put up 190 yards in one half of one game. Brunell played several ENTIRE games last season without throwing for more than 150 yards.

I'll take Moss anytime with his speed on the deep ball over Coles.
Not meaning to pick on you SUNRA , but I respectfully disagree with your assessment of Coles. I guarantee that he will put up over 1,000 yards this season and will outperform Moss (in terms of stats at least).

I don't necessarily disagree with your contention that we are better off with Moss than Coles. But that is simply because I'd rather have an inferior player who's happy to be here than Coles (who would be unhappy).

5th round pick for Davis, 6th round pick for Gardner, it's essentially the same thing. When you get that deep into the draft, you're generally eyeing up certain players that nobody else has much interested in. There's a reason you only get 5 minutes on the clock during that 2nd day, and that is because it's pretty easy to get the players you're looking for at that level. Not many picks get stolen from you that late in the NFL draft.

On Coles vs Moss, I don't think we should focus on who will put up the bigger stats. Besides, how do you know which stats will help you win? Is it who has the most catches? Is it who has the most yards? Or maybe it's a matter of who has the most yards per catch?

Coles might put up better numbers than Moss in terms of catches and yards, but I'll bet Moss puts up the better Yards per Catch. But that's not the point, I think you have to look at their effect on the entire team. Given the fact that the Washington Redskins are a run-first team and don't have one of the best QBs in the league, you have to ask this question: which receiver will have a better impact on the Redskins running game? If you are putting a strategy together for the Redskins, you have a strong line, Portis, Betts, and Nemo for short yardage, and you're thinking run first. We need a receiver to open up running lanes, and the best way to do that is with a speed demon with big play ability. Safeties and corners need to respect Moss more than they need to respect Coles and his damaged toe.

I think Moss has a more positive impact on OUR TEAM. Who cares what the stats say.

And it's silly to call the Coles/Moss trade a bad deal because we took a huge cap hit this year. You do realize that because we took the cap hit this year, that means Coles is cleared off our books next season? Next year is when we really need the cap room, not this year. Now with Coles off the books, we can keep the team almost entirely intact next year. I guarantee you we'd have to dismantle some parts if Coles were still here. And I'd hate to see some true Redskins head out the door next year, all because we decided to keep Coles, a guy who didn't want to be here.

Right, I was just looking at that BS "CBS Sportsline" preview for the season and the Cowboys were 14th in yards on offense. I think we all know what record THEY had.

I think we're really splitting hairs if we're going to be "pissed" over getting a 6th instead of a 5th.

Teams value players differently and each situation is unique.

The Skins held on to RG as long as they could and frankly it was amazing they got anything for him considering in all likelihood he would have been released for his cap relief.
