Re: Roster Cuts

zak keasey is a middle linebacker, he got playing time there during preseason and he excelled, we don't need another backup olb.

Re: Roster Cuts

mccune and wilds? hopefully both of them and warner hit the PS... i thought wilds played better last year than ade... pray our CBs stay healthy, we're not very deep there.

Re: Roster Cuts

None of these were suprises though for a while I thought Dyson might have a shot, but by him not playing special teams probably sealed his fate.

While many of us liked McCune, the only thing I got to see of him is his build. I didn't see much of him in the pre-season games, at least not enough to make a decesion as to whether he warranted a spot on the 53.

Re: Roster Cuts

we have 5 DTs... i would have ditched killings(DT), evans (DE), and raymer(C) for those three, or at least one DT for another CB.

the rest looks like what you'd expect... wilson played in 0 games last year (i think) and had trouble in the ravens game, molinaro has played special teams and at DT last year.

RON WARNER! Damn, McCune- i liked him and Wilds i thought would make the team.

Why O why O why does wilds get cut and the ade stay?

Friedman and Raymer both live?

Re: Roster Cuts

Wonder if we'll pick up another backup O Tackle? We've only got one on the depth chart--Molinaro. I know old-man Ray can play out there if he has to, but that's pretty thin.

I guess that Holdman and the rest can backup at MLB. McCune is a work in progress, no doubt. Hope he develops--a good PSQ guy.

Might we pickup a vet CB? I keep thinking that Ade isn't much for depth there, but I guess they like him....

Yes, yes but what is done is done. I guess if GW says that wilds mccune and warner are not for our team then i trust him.

Re: Roster Cuts

Hopefully Farris will make the PS. Taylor Jacobs is on the roster again after doing nothing. Is he even going to be ready to play on Sept. 11?

Yeah one receiver i feel has to make the squad. Moss, Patten, Jacobs, Thrash and Brown.

One is injured half the time and one showed he isn't the most reliable player on the field when it comes to catching. I have said that all of our positions can take an injury hit and still be fine, expecially on defense, but with a WR hit we are skrewed.

Re: Roster Cuts

Thoughts:

I don't think Mark Wilson was progressing like Molinaro. Molinaro still has a shot at being good I think. Good choice there.

I love the Andy Groom move.

I will say that the Redskins' 2nd day draft picks over the last few years have been ugly. McCune, Mark Wilson, and Newberry all cut. White got hurt, and jury's still out on Molinaro. Broughton might be a bright spot though. But I think we've made up for it with undrafted free agents. I'm a big Zak Keasey fan.

All that silly talk about cutting Jacobs or Antonio Brown never came to fruition. Thank God.

And don't fret about our CBs. Greg Williams would not put Jimoh out there for coverage, I don't think. He'd roll a safety over into man coverage, someone like Prioleau or Ryan Clark. He's a fan of flexibility. The Ade is only there for Special Teams.

And I think Garnell Wilds will be on speed dial for our first injury to a CB.

Re: Roster Cuts

If an injury bug bites us in WR, CB, and LB position, we could be in trouble. Our starters look fine in those positions, but lack of depth concern me. But, I have faith in Gregg Williams. Also, I hope McCune does make it to practice squad. He may not work out as a LB, but trying him as a SS or a pass-rush end could be intriquing.

Re: Roster Cuts

How does Gibbs cut the two tallest receivers on the team in one week with no other offensive player other than Cooley as a threat? This is ridiculous. We are crippling ourselves by holding on to Jacobs instead of Farris, and Raymer should have been cut last week. I'm not surprised by Dyson but don't try to relive the 80's with the smurfs especially with a QB who seems to underthrow them a lot of the times.

The cut list should have included
1.Ade Jimoh
2.Taylor Jacobs
3.Cory Raymer
4.Zak Keasey
5.Rock Cartwright
6.Tom Tupa
