Did you notice how the prevent took more time off the clock and forced a shot into the endzone at the end of the game? If everyone is covered the QB takes longer to find a target...it made the difference between field goal range and have to hit the end zone
I agree. The prevent is perfect for 36 seconds left and no timeouts. When teams use it with over a minute left is when I'll say "it prevents you from winning".

I didn't see much of Arrington either? What gives?

Re: What's with the defense.

The D was great tonight, no doubt about it, they stopped them where they needed to and kept them from making multiple big plays. I to would like to see more sacks and int's, but as long as they keep offensives from scoreing more than 2 TD's a game, i can live with that, just need our offense to start hitting on all cylinders and we are there. Maybe this BIG win and it was a huge win, will give Brunell the confidence he needs to start producing like he did when he came into the league, like i said we have never really had the Great QB, so why is now any different, Gibbs will find the way.

Re: What's with the defense.

I think this is how Williams planned it. He wrong-footed Parcells by holding off on the blitz and taking away all the underneath stuff to the TEs and RBs. He also pretty effectively took out the deep ball, except for the trick play and one deep out against Taylor. The main thing is he stuffed the run. I figure that they felt the key was not to give up the big play. They gave up one, and it was almost enough. Fortunately, Brunnell to Moss happened!

The book on Williams is that he brings the mad blitz. But Bledsoe can pick people apart and spread the ball. So we took away Juius Jones and played to keep the pass in front of us. It worked, overall. 13 points. Not bad. Should have gotten fumbles on two plays as well, IMO. The main thing about blitzing is surprise. So this will help us down the road as well--changes the book a bit.

Re: What's with the defense.

The defense kept the Cowboys to 13 pts. Dealing with poor field position most of the game. Taylor got burned on the flea flicker; bet it won't ever happen again. He also made up for it with some amazing hits. 2 of Taylors hits were arguably fumbles. Think the officials were rooting for biglittle D? Motion called on Samuels, Dockery, Rabach and Thomas. Until the second half penalties were way in favor of Dallas and finished Washington 12 Dallas 7. Seemed a bit one sided to me. The no calls from Williams, but he got his in the end. Karma is a bitch! In Gibbs we trust!

Re: What's with the defense.

the D kept the skins in the game, no question. like luxor says, they worked with a short field the entire game and it's a testament to the unit that they only gave up less than 2 TDs for four quarters.

i love how williams fakes the blitz too- pile the line and then back off... yes, the Dallas O-line gave Bledsoe all the time in the world tonight... but the fact that they didn't have many huge plays means that the D had excellent coverage for most of the night.

Re: What's with the defense.

we had 3 sack and two turnovers last week vs chicago... this week we didn't blitz at all it seems, we just dropped 7-8 into coverage every play... it worked, but it was a strange site
