Re: Is Carlos Rogers overrated?
Also, take into consideration that Rogers is still hampered by an ankle injury, which he's tweaked on and off since training camp. I don't think this kid is 100%, not that anyone is at this point in the season.
Hopefully with him he needs to get more reps in, and yes, at this point I don't think him starting would hurt us any more than what we've been getting. |

Re: Is Carlos Rogers overrated?
It's way too early to judge Rogers cause he is till a rookie. Come next season, well, that's a different story.

Re: Is Carlos Rogers overrated?
I guess the real question is this: Is Carlos unable to break into the starting lineup b/c of inconsistent play/talent level, OR is it because Williams doesn't want to put a rookie out there? I was gonna say its b/c he's a rookie, but Sean Taylor started after about 4 weeks. So that makes me think the kid is just not that good, but I really hope Im wrong.

Re: Is Carlos Rogers overrated?
Let's all remember that even though Rogers isn't starting it doesn't mean he isn't progressing. Sean Taylor could have started right away last year with his ability and he still didn't make his first start till the 5th? week vs. the Bears.

Re: Is Carlos Rogers overrated?
the thing that bothers me is that he is a 25 year old rookie. he had a great year last year in college, but how much of that is due to him being more mature/diciplined than the other guys around him?
you dont need to learn very much to play corner. alot of it is based on instincts. champ was a 20 year old rookie and played well. guys like dre bly, smoot, antoine winfield, nate clements all stepped in early and struggled at time, but they showed flashes of a bright future. the onlything rogers has showed is a 20 yard cushion... |

Re: Is Carlos Rogers overrated?
Think that is due to him or Williams?

Re: Is Carlos Rogers overrated?
I agree that right now it's to early to determine if this pick is a bust or overated, it's to early to call you need at least 3 years to truly see if a player has develop in to it's potential.
Now during the draft I made a lot comment of how Pac Man and Rogers where being pushed as top players just pecause they where CB and the new need and price value of quality CB I think that bout went higher that they should. The only thing that worries me is that it's mid season and you have a top 10 pic on the bench the only way he will get better it's by playing look at us Newman and Williams where top 10 pics and they started since day 1 Newman had a good first year and a average second now he's having his best year because we now have quality secondary players to help him last year he was alone. What I'm saying is that he should be starting right now and for him to not start it tells me that gibbs doesn't have confidence in him look at us we have 6 rookies playing 3 starting (Ware 11, Spears 20th and pettiti 6th round), they made some mistakes at the beginning but right now they are becomming a force in their position respectibly. |

Not exactly stellar... I'm not saying he hasn't improved, but he definitely was getting some dirty looks his first year.

Re: Is Carlos Rogers overrated?
You have to see the stats not so lineal if a player is making 8 int in a season you could say he had a great season but if he was trown to his side more that the other corner or got beat for more completions and deep passes you could say that the other CB had the better season and the other team didn't respect him that much yes he took 8 home but maybe gave 20.
Champ didn't had amazing stats each year but other QB respected him and tried to avoid him as much as they could. Deion also didn't had amazing stats becasue No-One trew his way. D'Angelo Was getting challenge and beat at the begginig of the season like all rookies but at the end Qb was starting to avoid his side and didn't challenge him that much he still gave some away but as I said and he was I of the rookies that showed more last year. |
