Browns | Winslow Jr. has minor surgery
Fri, 24 Mar 2006 06:01:56 -0800

Mary Kay Cabot, of the Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns TE Kellen Winslow Jr. (knee) underwent arthroscopic surgery on his reconstructed right knee in January, Browns general manager Phil Savage confirmed Thursday, March 23. "It was just a very minor procedure to clear out some scar tissue from his previous surgery," Savage said. "The doctors tell me he's doing great and he's at the facility (in Berea) working out every day." In August, Winslow revealed he was recovering from a staph infection in the right knee that caused him to lose almost 30 pounds.

so he's also caught staph and losts 30 pounds... things just aren't going his way.

Meh, tell him to get on another bike. He'll never be the force that everyone expected him to be.

So, what that move saves the team about $350k? I am just testing myself and seeing if I got the hang of it yet...

The salary cap only counts against the 52 highest payed players on the roster. So assuming that at least 52 players were making at least as much as Bethea, the Skins recieve absolutely no cap relief.

and whoever you cut, the next guy comes in, so cutting a 350k player (if he was in your top 51 or 52 or whatever), would be replaced by either another 350k player or a 275k player... maxxing your possible savings at 75k

Texans | Cowart signed
Fri, 24 Mar 2006 12:58:03 -0800

ESPNews reports the Houston Texans have signed free agent LB Sam Cowart (Vikings). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Eagles | Runyan re-signed
Fri, 24 Mar 2006 13:12:27 -0800

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the team has agreed to terms with free agent ORT Jon Runyan (Eagles) on a three-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

obviouosly runyan is a big deal and he'll continue to help the eagles, a very solid piece on the O-line.

We looked into cowhart, but he is older and slower, and in the end, the skins probably never made an offer, since he didn't visit.

Seahawks | Burleson signs offer sheet
Fri, 24 Mar 2006 14:15:34 -0800

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks have signed restricted free agent WR Nate Burleson (Vikngs) to an offer sheet. The Minnesota Vikings have seven days to match the offer. If they do not, the Vikings would receive Seattle's third-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.

giving burleson 7$mill a year is almost as stupid as giving julian peterson 8$mill a year... what are these guys smoking?
