The coaches aren't baby sitters, but they are NFL coaches and get paid a lot of money to keep these players in line. If you don't think some of this comes back on the coaching you are wrong. There's blame to go all the way around, not just at RG's feet. The have to teach him how to play this game.

It's on Griffin to adapt his game. I find it hard to believe the coaches aren't in his ear all the time about being smart when scrambling. Griffin needs to make it happen.

In one of Judy Battista's latest NFL.com articles about the Browns, she mentions how Hoyer was sacked by Ryan Kerrigan, "one of the league's best pass rushers." I just thought it was cool he was getting some love like that on the national level. Of course, maybe Miss Judy was just trying to earn points with Kerrigan.

If I'm Cleveland, I make Hoyer the starter, let him get reps with the first team for the rest of the season, and let Johnny Crybaby play with the second team (consistently) in the last two games. If they keep this up, they're going to be destroyed by the likes of Pittsburgh and Baltimore, no matter who's under center.

Ehhh. I know the kid is a whiny little punk. BUT im not talking about who id rather hang out with. Yeah Hoyer hasnt played since October, but he has been in the NFL since 2009. Manziel has participated in two pre-season games. So if you are going to use the experience factor lets look at the big picture. Again I agree with you about rotating them in and out of games. Its a recipe for disaster.

Precisely why I would fine him. Gruden has to find a new, vivid way to send the message.

I'd be fair and make it a rule for any QB. But I doubt Cousins or McCoy would rack up that fine.

Not sure how much they could fine him before the players union would step in and have an issue with it. Probably not enough to make a difference I would guess.

I would agree with you if we were talking about db's, or rb's, or any other position.

But there's zero chance Griffin isn't getting the full attention of Gruden, Mcvay, and other coaches on that team when appropriate.

You know... Sally Jenkins had an article about Griffin's stubbourness and said some were referring to him as uncoachable last season.

Most fans wrote it off - but maybe there's some truth to it... You can lead a horse to water...

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

Given Jenkins' connections to Shanny I buy zero of what she was selling last year.

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

I don't blame you.

I don't think Shanahan was the awful coach most fans have turned him into though... I think there was quite a bit of blame to be shared by all, even our savior quarterback.

But we've all been down that road a bunch of times, so I guess it's not worth it anymore. We'll know eventually who was to blame for what; or better yet, none of us will care

You could be right. So bench him, take away his parking spot, do SOMETHING coach-like to send a new, untried, and urgent wake-up.

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

Next Sat. is the dress rehearsal for the Skins. Lets see how RGIII and company perform against the Ravens. That will probably give us the best indication of how this season will start.

In regards to Johnny D-bag, this didn't take long. Welcome to the AFC North.

That would be like fining a playing for fumbling or missing a block. That isn't going to fly unfortunately with the player or the NFLPA.

How about since it was a pre-season game. Jay just pulled him from that series or a play. Something tells me hitting Griffin's pride is more hurtful to him then hitting his wallet.

I imagine they are but it is like Vick (even though Vick was known to be arrogant), if they see that one yard that they believe can make a difference they are going for it. I think it is almost impossible to get a player to stop being so reactive when they are so competitive.
