Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...

Glad it's finally draft day.

For $1 I say: (so far 0 for 1 on dollar bets this week, so take this as a wild ass guess more than anything else)

With Mariota still on the board at 5,

We trade with Cleveland our 5th overall for their 12th, their 2nd this year and their 3rd next year.
Rd 1 -12 Ereck Flowers, T

We trade our 2nd, our 4th to move back to Denver for their 28th pick
Rd 1 - 28 Landon Collins, SS
Rd 2 - 43(from Clev) Maxx Williams, TE

We trade down again to 76 for Minnesota's 5 and swapping 7ths
Rd 3 - 76 Garrett Grayson QB
no 4th Rounder
Rd 5 - 137 (from Minn) David Parry NT
Rd 5 - 148 Corey Robinson, OT
Rd 6 - 182 Troy Hill, CB
Rd 7 - 228 (swapped Minn) John Timu, ILB

That's not nearly enough return for, in essence, trading Cleveland the man they think will be their Franchise QB. Cleveland already offered both of their 2015 1st Round picks to Tenn for the second pick (Mariota). They'll give up more than that to get him, IMO. If Mariota is worth that much at pick #2, then he's worth that much at pick #5.

I love the idea of picking Ereck Flowers at #12. He reminds me of Trent Williams. I think he would be a true bookend OT.

I did just a little over chart value. Obviously if we traded and got more I would not complain.

My point is that chart value is irrelevant in this case. Cleveland would be trading so they could get Mariota and everyone knows it. They would not be making a generic swap of picks for an unknown player. Mariota is worth the same to them whether his is taken at #2 or #5.

Given that its Cleveland I agree. But I made my picks and trades and if I am right on anything I want a dollar from everyone!

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...

I’ve been getting more and more into the draft as the years go by.
Even though Goodel has fecked it up by moving it to Thursday.
Anyway, I took a vacation day tomorrow so I can thoroughly enjoy tonight.
Yesterday we brought home a brand new 50” TV.
My wife and I are going to a local brewpub for dinner after work.
Then I will be shopping for some choice brewhaha.
I think a nice stout or a porter is in order.
Then I get the new remote for the rest of the night.

Man, you are one serious Draftnik! You ought to be able to smell the highlights on that new 50" TV. Your wife sounds like a great partner. Have a great draft day!

If Jamies Winston would somehow fall to 5 we should:

Draft him or trade out?

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...

NBC4's Dianna Marie Russini has been told the Redskins are "planning and hoping" to take Florida OLB Dante Fowler at No. 5 overall.

It's widely been assumed the Redskins and new GM Scot McCloughan want to trade back. But they also want an edge rusher to complement Ryan Kerrigan, and don't want to miss out on both Fowler and Clemson's Vic Beasley. SI's Peter King also said Monday he can't see the Redskins passing on Fowler at No. 5.

Dianna also said that if Fowler isn't there at #5, then the Skins would prefer to trade down and take an offensive lineman.

BTW, you can be sure that Scot M. is pissed off that somebody leaked that information to the press. Who is the big mouth at Redskins Park?
