Re: Robert Griffin III ready to turn career around with Redskins in 2015

Hey, Hog 1, Here's another one for you. This is from Dan Steinberg's column in the Washington Post dated October 27, 2009:

"And now it's Mike Broderick, a longtime season ticket holder, who came to the Chiefs game with Dumb and Dumber signs, attracting a security official who threatened to seize his season tickets. The guard told Broderick he could either go to the security office, leave the stadium, or hand over the signs. So Broderick asked if he could put the image on a t-shirt instead.

'That would be kind of offensive,' the security official said.

'It's offensive to come to these games,' Broderick said he replied.

Broderick gave up the signs, and came back on Monday Night with new signs hidden under his jacket, and with t-shirts to match. The signs were about to be taken, as NFL Network cameras rolled live, and Broderick showed the security guy the team's old policy, printed in his telephone yellow pages, which he had brought as proof. Policy's been changed, he was told. Eventually, he said, security also made him turn his t-shirt inside-out, calling P.G. cops in for support. He said I could use his name, because his frustration overwhelms any fear of losing his seats."

Hog1, here's one from the City Paper dated August 14, 2009:

"Snyder’s scheme could be seen as vindictive, also. These everybody-pays parking fees come just as he’s feuding with the Jericho City of Praise Church over—you guessed it—parking.

For years, the massive church, located adjacent to FedExField, has been leasing its parking lots to Snyder on Redskins game days. He allowed Redskins season ticket holders who had purchased 10-game parking passes to use the leased property.

But negotiations between the team and the church to continue the leasing arrangement broke down during the offseason.

The staff at the business office at Jericho City of Praise tells me that the church will take control of the lots on game days, and charge $35, cash only. That amounts to competition, and history is pretty clear on what Snyder does to parking competition.

In 2001, Snyder got Prince George’s County to ban pedestrians from walking to FedEx on game days. His lawyers argued that the walk-in ban was necessary for the safety of ticket holders."

I think that's enough to illustrate that I'm talking about facts.

More to the point, you asked me if I thought some of these things were dramatized or made up. I said no, they are facts. And they are. Stop being so naive; you can look this stuff up if you want to.

Do you remember when Snyder and Vinnie pulled a guy out of retirement who hadn't been an NFL OC for five years (Sherm Lewis) and who had been calling Bingo games in Green Bay and forced poor Jim Zorn to let him call the plays? Some of the stuff Snyder has either instigated or approved is so wacky you can't make it up.

I don't know why Snyder does the things he does, but I say once again, based on his track record of seemingly wanting to control everything and everybody, that I would have no trouble believing that he is demanding that RGIII start.

It appears it has become your....life to prove that Dan is the Antichrist? Not just some egotistical sports team owner with a bad club?
If not, in all your ramblings, do you by any chance have a point?
Is it possible you could state it in say....a couple of sentences?

I cannot personal speak for KI Skins Fan, but my understanding is that he is proving that Dan Synder likes to control everything.

Dan's controlling nature and his love for RG3 are the reasons why I and several other on this site believe that no matter what RG3 may do wrong or KC/Colt do right, the starting Quarterback on September 13 will be RG3.

Personally I just wish that Dan Synder would allow his own coaches to chose the Quarterback that can best run the Offense, and best run the team.

Please understand that I am seriously hoping that RG3 can turn things around, as he is the most athletic of the Quarterbacks that we have, but right now he doesn't look confident and he doesn't like a professional quarterback.

Unless RG3 looks a whole lot better in the last two preseason games, right now I would feel a lot more comfortable seeing either Colt McCoy or Kirk Cousins as the starting Quarterback.

You have a good post here. All factual what you just said. You have to keep in mind that back in 2008, prior to Jim Zorn being hired, Jim Fassel was basically like a shoe-in for the HC job. However, if you listen to Fassel and don't think he's got an axe to grind for not getting the job, he has claimed several times that he was asked to be HC, at the point that all of his other coaches / assistants were already hired. He was also not given any autonomy on players / personnel, and he says basically they wanted him to coach the team even though all the decisions were being made for him.

He allegedly turned it down when he learned that he would basically have no input on players / etc, and that is at the point that Jim Zorn was promoted to HC, as he had already been hired to be Fassel's OC. To me, Fassel has always came off as respectable and not an ego guy, so i think he is telling the truth. And if you revisit the timeline, it all makes sense.

So basically to sum up - probably 90% certainty that Dan Snyder is still telling "his guys" - to make it known who plays and who doesn't play, etc...

Re: Robert Griffin III ready to turn career around with Redskins in 2015

The problem is most of you are looking at this through the eyes of a fan who wants to win right away, so of course you want to play the backups when the starter struggles. That's understandable, but Scot is looking at the big picture. I think he realizes that this team is not going to win with any of our QBs anytime soon, so why wouldn't he play the guy that has had the most success and is the most physically talented? In the meantime, while he finds out if Griffin can be effective again, he is working on building up the talent around the QB position.

Maybe you think Cousins or McCoy should be that guy, but McCloughan and Jay are around these guys all the time. Is it that hard to believe that Griffin really is the best option? I know Keim has said he has no issue with the QB depth chart after viewing some of the camp practices.

The notion that Snyder is the reason Griffin is starting is very unlikely to me. McCloughan does not come across as a fool, I doubt he would have come here if he thought there was even a tiny chance Snyder would meddle like that.

Oh I agree 100% that Robert gets every chance to prove he can be the man…but when is enough..How many games does he have to stink it up before somebody says enough already??? my question was IF RGlll stinks it up at Ravens what then? the last pre season game means nothing..starters don't really play..so we start regular season with RGlll in a game at home that we could win with average QB play…why not Let Cousins or McCoy start at Ravens ..see what they got..we know what Robert has. You guys Seem smart to me and most all of you make great points..IF YOU WERE THE HEAD COACH AND YOUR FUTURE WAS RIDING ON IT ..WHO WOULD YOU GO WITH AT QB??..lets here it ..

I agree with everything that you said!

I will take your challenge...

Personally, right now I would have to say Colt McCoy is the Quarterback that I would go with on September 13. And his back-up would be Kirk Cousins.

I know that I am probability going to get blasted for my choice, but of the three quarterback on the Redskins roster right now Colt McCoy is the Quarterback that seems the most professional and confident. Also the offensive seems to run the most smoothly with Colt McCoy at quarterback.

Okay, so I said my piece, what do others think?

I would announce that RGIII will not play vs. Baltimore due to his concussion vs. the Lions. After that, I would start Robert in the final preseason game and have the first team play one very vanilla series. Then, I would say nothing more than "Robert is our starting QB" prior to starting him in the first game of the season. That should satisfy Snyder and and protect my job until RGIII gets hurt and I can put in my choice at QB.

Cousins. Even though I doubt we have any qb on our roster that isn't, at maximum, a backup.

I don't think McCloughan would have taken the job unless he was assured (and probably written into his contract) that he would have total control over the roster. I don't think it's any coincidence that shortly after he took over is when Gruden came out and said Griffin would be the starter heading into the offseason.

50+ other players on this roster. I support whoever is wearing a Redskins Uniform but if RG3 is stinking it up and showing no sign of improvement. He needs to be replaced by Kirk

Well.....it has not looked very promising last season and so far this that any of these guys are the answer.
What the hell!
Might as well start a 2016 draft thread...right now.
