I did notice that about McIntosh, but Blades was a beast all year (given of course the fact that he didn't play much in the first few weeks before Washington's injury).

He's a fantastic young prospect -- although I wouldn't want to see him chasing a tight end across the field ever again.

Moving Rocky to SLB should simplify the reads for him a bit, which might help him produce, but I think 2009 is it for him here. He's a non-tender candidate after this year.

Blades is a candidate for a long term deal if he improves this year, I think.

That's the thing, is that Heyer only has one more year to show progress in that aspect, or he becomes too costly to keep around.
So where, if anywhere, do you see Devin Clark falling into all of this? I found it kind of interesting that both he and Vinny have mentioned Clark (along with Rinehart) as guy they're expecting to step up for 2009?

Second question, suppose we bring Daniels back (or even if we don't) with Haynesworth, Griffin, Monty, and Golston would you entertain any thoughts of sending Alexander back to the offensive side of the ball?

You know, you'd think since we bothered to hold Erasmus James through the entire season last year, we would have kept him on into this year...but no.
Not quite, he was cut on 12/9. And keep him for what? Both Wilson and Jackson had both passed James on the depth chart. James played in a dozen to 15 plays all year, cut the cord, he was worthless.

So we havent seen anything from Heyer yet. Hes entering his third year and the only thing he has shown is that he's one heck of a backup who has improved leaps and bounds every year and hes a guy. He was never, ever humiliated when playing LT. In all honesty, he did ok there, although we would never want him to start there.

All Heyer has done is get better and succeed at everything he's been asked to do. He's dirt cheap and has a ton of upside. However, in the end, we someone who can start at left takle so Samuels can move right.
Bottom line is that Heyer is NOT a starting OT in the league. Willis has more experience and fits Zorn and his scheme, therefore I would easily take Willis ahead of a proven backup (Heyer). Hopefully they sign Willis so that he can get a shot at starting.

I don't see Devin Clark fitting in anywhere. It's interesting though, unless Jansen bumps inside, we currently don't have a backup Guard or Center under contract, outside of Rinehart. If Clark can handle, say, Right Guard, he might have a future. At tackle, no.

I would not send Alexander back to the offensive side under any circumstances. He's a bad blocker, and has no redeeming qualities. But as a defensive player, he can play the 3 shade or the nose equally well (although we go three deep at the nose now), and has very good skills.

Whatever delusions you have about Willis, you have no evidence to make your "bottom line" point that Heyer isnt a starting OT in this league. Heyer is supposed to be a RT and he's never had significant playing time there since his rookie season... when he impressed. Considering he had to play LT in place of a pro-bowler last year, i would say he was pretty darn impressive last year too.

Weve never heard anything from people within redskins park indicating they didnt think Heyer was not a starting caliber RT. We have some in the organizaiton who think he can be. others have doubts, but no one has indicated theres no way hes a starting RT - so how in the world did you reach that conclusion?

agreed. Im not expecting much from either of them in 2010 though. Both would be lucky to make the active roster at any point during the season.

On another subject, am i the only one a little troubled by the fact that we have 13M in cap space and arent doing anything to improve our team after losing Springs and Taylor?

Huh..? They just got the money freed up yesterday.

Givem a week or so to spend some of the loot, damn. Did you think they would spend the cash over night?

Patience grasshopper!

But we know they are impulsive and don't have any plans, so they should be spending it as fast as they get it. (and actually, I kinda figured they would have signed someone by now also)

Tuna Master Plan. Knowing the Skins would bite. Taylor was used as a spy and a draft pick burglar................ I don't know after 21 pages of Jason Taylor Released it's all I got left ............... It would be interesting if he ended up back in Miami.

I tend to agree with this. Most players don't play as well out of position and Heyer is no exception. His best position is RT. In a recent interview Buges said Heyer can be as good as he wants to be. He also said he had come a long way since he first got here and had trouble adjusting to his own size at first. I don't know if he had a late growth spurt or what but that's what he said. I think he deserves a shot. I still see nothing wrong with taking a quality OT in the draft. If Heyer is not as good as the rookie he is still a valuable back up.

I like Bertrand berry, wouldnt might mind bringing him in. What about Cromwell? is he still on the market, i dont see him on your list of top free agents left.

I think they have done a really good job with the three signings so far, kudos to Dan/Vinny and the FO. Yes of course impulsive isn't out of the question, Dan Snyder is the owner.

But for what reason would you think they don't have 'any plans'...? Explain. All the other moves have been well thought/planned out, expect Dock he became available unexpectedly and happened to be an area of need for the team.

I totally disagree with the they don't have 'any plans' for the next move. I'm quite sure they have a solid game plan for the next move or moves in the FA market.
