My vote goes to Zorn wanting to save more for the regular season. I know a lot of people are freaking out but preseason really only means so much. I mean in Spurriers first year we were preseason kings and look how much that meant. Last year the Panthers destroyed us on defense and yet we finished 4th overall. Right now a lot of players and coaches are holding back so it's no surprise if teams struggle more then they should.

I don't buy it. It was a pre season game for Balt. too and they're playing a 2nd year QB.

I keep wondering what people think the Skins are holding back. Its not like they were a Super Bowl contender last year and looking like a favorite again this year, they were a no playoff team. I just dont think the Skins (coaches or players) have the luxury of holding anything back at any time.

What really pissed me off was CSN had a camera on Snyder and Cerrato before the game talking with Portis and Moss. Just the 4 of them. I just don't get why these two are not getting the reps in when they were two important starters on one of the worst offenses in the NFL. If Randy Moss is playing and running deep pass patterns then these two should certainly be on the field. They need the work! It starts w/ the head coach and he just doesn't command the respect of some players.

I'm sure this has been covered, but Justin Tryon can't.

Blache said he wanted to put the young guys "on an island" tonight and see how they handled it. Surprisingly he didn't seem to disappointed in Tryon. He said the guys should learn from this. From what I saw, Tryon has a LOT to learn.

Tryon got used. It was like the Ravens knew to pick on him too. Play after play they just made him look inferior. On the flip, Byron Westbrook played pretty well.

Westbrook surprised me. I didn't think he stood a chance but he played pretty well tonight.

I suspected as much. Williams used to do the same thing with his young safeties and cornerbacks

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

Wow. I didn't even get a chance to watch it -- and I'm thoroughly disappointed. (I watched Wheel of Fortune instead.. ugh)

Sure. this is preseason and we're getting everything together. BUT -- this is preseason for the Ravens as well. And they kicked our ass. To be shut out and allow over 500 yards means we sucked from starters right down to the scrubs. Their depth is clearly much better than ours.

I'm worried about the defensive effort, but somehow I think we'll work it out. Put Haynesworth and Rogers in there, maybe things get a little better. I sure hope so.

What I'm NOT hopeful about is our offense. Getting excited about Kelly and 25 yards is hard to swallow. The O-line is good news, but I'm not as concerned about how good they are -- more about whether they'll stay healthy. Good to hear about BMW, Rhineheart, and backup center who I hear did okay.

After all this -- what can we do to make the offense better? Is it just that Zorn sucks at play-calling? Is it JC? Sure it's preseason - but our offense has sucked for years and looks about the same (if not worse). I think this is clearly a bad sign.

BTW it's hilarious that Ladell Betts had his name misspelled as "Bettis" on the back of his jersey. How the hell does that happen? It's not like he's a rookie or fringe player. He's a long time Redskin. Pretty weak.

Reminiscent of the Nationals wearing the "Natinals" jerseys.

There are many ways I could go with this, but the Ladell Betts lovers on this board would not be happy.

I like Betts and I say go for it.

Alright here goes. If you want them to remember your name correctly Ladell why don't you stop impressing the coaches in the pre-season. I know I know I know you fooled Vinny or Spurrier when they drafted you about two rounds ahead of any nfl team and then it was Al Saunders who just loved you ever since he saw you in high school and now it's the current coaching staff, but if you want them to remember your name maybe you could do something cool.

Like play awesome.

Depth is our Achilles heel. We really needed to upgrade the oline and didn't. If we lose a couple starters there before say week 5, we might be in for a long season.
