I still think Williams, Fowler or Beasley will be there and you take one. Trading down dilutes the talent pool too much. As has been widely reported there are only 6 to 8 blue chip prospects. Trading down from 5 has to be a big offer. |

Leonard Williams told Mayock that the Skins told him at his visit that "they didnt think he would be there, but if he falls he was their guy"

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
Given the rumored price that the Titans have for their #2 overall pick (they want Cleveland's two first rounders and their second round pick), I'm hoping that this results in them letting Mariotta pass and he falls to us.
I imagine Washington's price for their #5 would be less than what the Titans are asking. Also, I think teams wouldn't want Mariotta to fall to the Jets, who would definitely take him. I'd have a harder time passing on Leonard Williams than Mariotta in a trade down scenario. A think a great scenario for the Skins would be to get P. Rivers, the #17 pick, and a 3rd rounder (maybe a 2nd rounder) for our #5 overall.

Todd McShay's final mock draft
Like Mel Kiper, McShay has Winston and Mariota going 1-2. Dante Fowler goes to the Redskins at No. 5, but: “if the Redskins are presented with a good trade offer to move back, that’s what they’ll do." per McShay

Nothing. He stays with the team as a backup OLB.

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
We need him. Depth is so important, having a rotation and keeping pass rushers fresh is important and injures are a reality in the NFL. We need three great OLB's, that is why getting Fowler or Beasley (if Williams is gone) is huge.

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
I want Dante Fowler. If he's gone and we get Beasley I'll be happy too, but Fowler would pump me up sky high. One of those two and a good O-Lineman in the second, maybe another in the 3rd or beyond, and a FS in the 3rd or 4th. Pick up a third down back, WR, or TE that can catch and block...I'm good to go baby! Staying along the lines of BPA of course. But I certainly think it's possible. At least in my head.

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
I wouldn't be surprised if we trade the pick (granted someone is willing) I think giving RGIII the 5th year option raises the cap next year and picking someone in the teens is cheaper than #5.

RGIII getting $16M is NOT done deal. He has to earn it. Not based on potential.

I know that, what happens if he reverts to 2012? No one knows, just have to plan ahead. You also have Williams and Kerrigan's contract coming up.
