I agree the speech was excellent and to some extent it might have set the bar to high for good ol John McCain. However as weird as it may sound, it seems like it was more important for Palin to make a statement during this convention then McCain due to the recent tabloid exposure and the fact that a few weeks ago no one knew who she was (much respect to Obama for saying that families are off limits).

One things for sure though, this election is going to get a lot dirtier from this point forward and the Palin speech is not going to look nearly as good (it'll still be a great speech) when the head honcho's of the Democratic party get a chance to respond.

However to me all this convention stuff is bullshit. Yeah theres some great stories and a host of well written speeches, but it's scripted and on top of that theres no one to counter on the points they made (same thing with the democratic convention).

Thats why, as with any issue, I want to see the debates and from there I'll judge the canidates based on what I see. However if Obama's health and spending plans are what I think they are then my ticket will be pretty much be decided.

I thought her speech was poor. I was hoping for a fresh perspective and her addressing her lack of experience. She was like a republican robot, politics as usual.

I wasn't all that impressed either. Sounded like a canned speech to me.

Find a transcript. You sound like a media robot.

Also sounds like you had your mind made up before she spoke a word. Nothing she could have said can impress certain people.

What speech did you listen to over half was addressing her experience and what she has done. I also notice the ones saying it was not a good speech all use the word "robot" like your reading the same dem hand book on key words to use. Talk about robot's.

What did you guys expect? The formula to change? The speech was written by former George W. Bush speech writer Matthew Scully.

you could have saved yourself alot of time, and said the health care industry, combined with the insurance companies, have way too much money to let national health care be thrust onto the American people. who cares if its the right thing, as long as all the people employed by these mega giants get rich( or at least more then their fair share) health care in America is, and always will be, about the money. and anyone who thinks otherwise, is just fooling themselves. i thought Mrs Palin did well last night. but i expected her to. the thing that makes me laugh is that the G.O.P trots her out there, with her typical rhetoric, and applauds her normalcy. are the republicans that out of touch? i dare to think so

Way too much money?? You clearly haven't been paying attention. Try changing that to "not nearly enough."

You clearly didn't read my post thoroughly. I don't expect people to understand these problems like I have to as part of my job, but at least read my post before commenting.

Nobody gets rich on the healthcare provider side, except for superstar surgeons (as they should).

Last year we lost $60 million. Our physician practice broke even, but only because we subsidized about $24 million in operational losses.

Most hospitals are lucky to cover costs without help from the taxpayer. Insurance carriers have meager profit margins, typically around 5%. The players within the industry are not the problem, the actual expenses (drug costs, malpractice costs, costs of new clinical equipment, new science & technology) involved with treating illnesses are the problem.

Know who's getting rich off healthcare? Civil lawyers collecting gigantic fees from malpractice settlements, and the pharmaceutical companies.

INCREDIBLE SPEECH. My favorite line was that Obama has written two memoirs but has yet to author a single law or reform.

Also, let's see Obama do THIS:

RedState: BREAKING: Sarah Palin "Winged" Her Speech Because of "Broken" Teleprompter

GAME OVER. McCain wins...BIG.

Wow, she must have gotten an 'A' in public speaking. So she memorized her speech... that's it I'm sold.

At least she's a better speaker than W. I'll give her that.

Wow seems like you made up your mind before it even started. how can one speech determine if you will win "big" in a closely contested race?

Seems like you are bit insecure and worried about the momentum of the Dems and the questionable pick of Palin...

I am not at all being sarcastic about this. I understand that Politicians are expected to be good public speakers, but what is the relevance really? Being able to speak well in public or not does not indicate your ability to govern people. Talk is cheap, show me your ability through your actions.

I am not taking a shot at either the Dems or the Reps. I am just saying who gives a shit about how good of a public speaker the president or vice president is? He or she could be a deaf mute as long as they make wise decisions.

I agree!

I think it is funny how everyone is like their speeches were so powerful. When they were speaking to their own party. IF I was talking in front of my family they would probably cheer just as loud. So dumb.

Plus sometimes they go for the cheap easy stand up comendian cheer. Example: "Hey anyone here from St. Paul? Great city!".

The reason people think her speach was so good is because two weeks ago she was unknown to most Americans. Then she had to endure all the stuff said about her and her family then go on a National stage and make a record breaking acceptance speach in front of the whole world. Yes, the world does watch our elections.
