Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I mean did he get the playbook and be like this is what I'll be doing.. nahhhhh.. or did he think more and more he'd not be used much at end? maybe some conversations lead to him thinking that?
because yeah he said he'd play where needed.. maybe he was just refreshed about the new regime so he decided to go along at first and after more thought decided it wasn't for him or what? that's what I'd like to know |

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
Even the Redskins alumni are pissed at this fat piece of S., including my favorite all time Redskin (Arthur Monk).
Skins alumni pile on Haynesworth There was no free agency for many of the former Redskins players at Thursday's alumni event during the team's final minicamp practice, Nor were there bonuses worth millions of dollars. So it took very little for the alums to transition from praising the Redskins new front office for setting up the event to slamming the player currently at odds with those same executives: defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Players ripped the star tackle for his attitude and his lack of commitment and did not hesitate to suggest how the team should handle him. "My two cents worth: Albert Haynesworth needs to get his ass out of town and go somewhere else," said kicker Mark Moseley, the 1982 NFL MVP. "And I think if the Redskins could do that, they would do that. I don't know the background of all of it, the money parts of it, but when you have a player like that that is that disgruntled, get him out of here. He's a cancer to these guys." "These guys here today are the players that want to play," Moseley continued, nodding toward the practice field. "They're the players that deserve to play and when you have a player like that, I don't care how much money he makes it's not worth having a disgruntled player in here to spread cancer among the team." Moseley said it was frustrating for former players to see a current star hold out of camp when he has been given $26 million in bonuses after just one season with a team. Former running back Ricky Ervins, sporting several championship rings, was among the most vocal of the former players. It took just hearing the start of Haynesworth's name for the former Redskin to tee off. "They should fine him every time he's not here because that is so selfish," he said. "Bottom line. You get paid all this money, I don't care if they ask you to play a 5-6 or a 29, you be in there playing because you do it for your team, you're taking one for your team. ...If you're an athlete and you're talented you can adjust. That's the bottom line." Ervins wasn't done. "It's a team game, bro. I heard he just got his check on April 1. He's not here and this is mandatory. I can understand when you don't come to OTAs because it's not mandatory. Okay, great. But when it's mandatory, you gotta be here and he's not here? You've got to find someway to recoup some of that money, fine him when he's not here. I'm talking $100,000 when he's not here." Asked if it says something that a team leader spoke out, Ervins came back with a resounding 'yes.' Linebacker London Fletcher's comments speak "for everybody, coaches, administration probably, everybody because he's letting the team down. Because this is a team sport, it ain't track and field when you in there running the 100 by yourself. This is a team sport and we need everybody to make this work." Even Hall of Fame wide receiver Art Monk, never one to talk his way into anything -certainly not into controversy-weighed in when asked about the situation. "I don't want to get into all that, but he made a commitment to this team and he needs to honor his commitment," Monk said. "Whether he likes it or not he made a commitment. He should be man enough to do that."

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
i say bench him... we shouldn't make any rash decisions, take some time and think it over, weigh all the options. but when it's all said and done, i don't want anyone that doesn't wanna be here.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
what a week to be w/o the internet, i don't think we should make any quick decisions and just let him make more and more of an ass of himself, which should give us more and more ammunition to retreive some money back. theres a lot of time between now and training camp and a whole lot of time between now and the season. i say go mike leech on his ass and lock him in a dark room by himself everyday until he comes around. obviously they can't deal with him like an adult because he refuses to act like one.
unless he gives back over 75% of his bonus that he received in april i hope the skins just keep him and bench him i would hate to see him get anything close to what he wants. f you you fat pos, f you.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
We hold all the cards so Albert can say he doesn't want to play in a 3-4 defense so what they paid you 32 million so far and you are under contract. We can fine him everyday he does not report to training camp until he shows, if he doesn't show then we can look to recoop some of his signing bonus. I would not trade him unless we get at least a 2nd round pick. If we can not get a 2nd rd pick then just keep him and force him to come to work and earn his money regardless if he likes it or not. If he becomes a distraction than get him on player misconduct and void that contract if possible. Why should we be surprised that Haynesworthless is acting like a spoiled child. We have people getting layed off from jobs and he is crying after making 32 million. What a Joke he is. If he wasn't playing football what the hell would he be doing for a living besides being a bouncer in a strip club.

Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
I have a theory that he was expecting to get traded so he didn't work out all offseason. Now he is out of shape and needed an excuse to not show up so he didn't look bad for not working out after he preached that he "knows what he needs to do to perform at the highest level". This will all be over in about two months (once he is back in shape). He will appologize and all will be hunky dorey, meanwhile no one will know that the real reason that he missed camp is because he couldn't keep his lips off of Mrs. Buttersworth...but I will know; do you hear me Phat AL? I WILL KNOW!

Hey, I know it's a repugnant thought to do that to someone but he is a public figure and, as a famous sports personality, he's fair game. Jeez, I'm ashamed of myself. Edit: BTW, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that the Redskins have private investigators following him around right now. If I felt that someone had taken my $21M check on false pretenses, I know I would be trying to find a way to get some leverage on him. I assume he's no saint. |

I am sure that you understand that my post about him being out of shape was stated half-jokingly. I don't really believe that. I am just throwing some conspiracy into the fire, even though apparently I am not the first to do so. |

its about the money. he thought he could collect 32 mil for 13 months then bitch his way out of the skins and on to a new team to sign a new 5 year 60 mil contract. this was a money grab from the very start. as soon as danny and vinny put 32 mil guaranteed for the 1st year then having his contract drop to 4-6 mil for the remaining 3 years. Do you all honestly think AH came here with any intention of playing for 4-6 mil the next 3 years? the smart money is take the 32 mil guaranteed for 1 year, then bounce to another team and sign a contract that will pay you 10 mil per year. this 3-4 talk is nonsense. he doesnt want to show up out of shape is nonsense. AH IS ALL ABOUT MONEY. if he stays with the skins he gets vastly underpaid for the next 3 years when he is in his prime (29-32). by the time the skins can void his contract, the contract he will get at 33 will be paltry compared to waht he can get today at 29. if he forces his way out he gets 10-12 mil per year for the next 3 years plus signing bonus money.

If he were able to get his freedom from the Skins (which he will not, unless he pays the bonus back), there isn't a GM in this league who would sign him up for anything other than an incentive laden pay-as-you-go contract. This would leave AH open to injury and he would actually have to "try" to play in order to reach incentives. No way that is what he is angling for. Dude is just a mental head case that is throwing a temper tantrum. Neither he, nor his agent, had any long term strategy in place to get more money. Plus, it's a stupid strategy, even if it were real, because he's not going to get paid in the free market and he can't keep his bonus money if he wants out. Lastly, if this was his plan all along, he would have NEVER converted his roster bonus to a signing bonus this March. A roster bonus is 100% unrecoverable by the team, whereas a signing bonus is subject to forfeit under the CBA. If he had a diabolical plot, he sabotaged himself by signing that contract conversion from Bruce this spring. |

In this day and age of NFL contracts, there is only one thing that carries real weight with the player........GUARANTEED MONEY. Everything else is really just extra wording in the contract. For the most part, all they are truly concerned about is the guaranteed monies. They know that on any day of the week they can be released, but that guaranteed money does not go away. I dont think it has anything to do with playing for chump change over the next 3 years, he already got what he expected from the contract, that which was guaranteed. I could fathom him having a beef with the 3-4 because it would prevent him from reaching certain INCENTIVES in his contract. But all that really matters any way is the guaranteed funds. So, no I think it just Haynesworth being a d*ck. Cerratos quote sums it up nicely "Haynesworth did NOT sign a contract with the 4-3, he signed a contract with the Redskins." |
