At this point however, I can't see how Haslett survives, nor Burns. Lots of people want Kyle out but I don't see that (unless he leaves) nor do I think that would make much difference in improving our fortunes in 2014. I can see massive turnover on the defense with many starters (Fletcher, Wilson, Bowen, Merriweather) moving on and a whole new ST crew (PR, KR, P) outside of Forbath and the return of the LS. They need to upgrade the WR group (again) replacing Morgan, Moss and Robinson.

I let him walk now or extend him, likely the former. I don't go into next off-season with a lame duck HC

Your conciseness on the fork in the road and which direction you're looking. I thought you'd back Shanny to the (bitter) end.

Why should it be any different for a coach than a player? You see teams not re-sign a player in his final year to see if he proves he deserves another contract. To me, it's step up or step out. He doesn't deserve a contract extension at this point, and to be sure he's up to the challenge of proving himself.

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
SmootSmack, do you have any favorites as to whom you'd like to see coaching in Washington? Someone who you think would be a realistic choice and give this franchise the best chance at success? I hear names that the forum throws out here and there, like Greg Roman, Bill Cowher, and Jon Gruden, and I know someone had mentioned Jay Gruden before, but is there someone who most of us haven't thought of?
I'm still skeptical about moving on from Mike Shanahan. I still believe a better defense has this team a lock for the playoffs on a consistent basis.

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
Guys sorry but the .420 win percentage in year four, enough said. It is time for a new direction. I don't think there is harmony between the head coach/OC and our QB. Now the QB should not be running the team, but that needs to get fixed in particular since a king's ransom was paid to obtain the 'franchise QB'. I don't think the Shanny's are the answer, to bad there is not a Marc Trestman clone out there.

I'm all for Mike Shanahan staying, but Haslett has to go.

and Burns. Im good after that, as long as Morris doesnt replace Haslett. Kyle stays, but him and daddy need to get on the same page. leave egos at door

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I am with Matty that MShanahan should be allowed to finish his 5 years if he chooses to stay, but at this point, I don't think any other coach's job should be safe, including Kyle. At the same time, the offense has shown it can get the job done most games, so any wholesale changes should be on the defense. ST is imo mostly a function of coaching whatever group of players best fits from the group of guys that make up your 46 man active roster.

Re: Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?
I have a question... Haslett has the ability to run both 3-4 and 4-3 is there a reason we don't use part of both like the Jets?
