Sheesh, people act like like we just picked a punter with a high round pick or something. SMH.

I mean seriously. I'll freely admit, I don't know a thing about these guys. When I watch the draft, after the first round, I'm just wanting a certain position. Defense is our #1 need and offensive line is right there. I'm happy with how they drafted. I'm sorry, but if it was a slam dunk that a guy would be an "instant contributor" they still wouldn't be there in the third round, they'd have gone already. Based on the positions we've picked, I'm happy.

FWIW the front office seems to be putting a premium on high motor players. After all they passed up Moses initially for Murphy and then with that last pick Spencer Long {OG Neb} they got a guy who was a former walk on.

From what I hear, Spencer Long could project to C.

There is a reason we know one name and not another though. Lol. This guy would have been there in probably the fifth round. Maybe the sixth. Do we think THAT much of him to take him in the third? I guess so. Idk.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft: Rounds 2-3

10/15/13 - Nebraska has lost its top offensive lineman, most likely for the rest of the year. Coach Bo Pelini said Tuesday that Spencer Long will have surgery Thursday on his left knee. Long was hurt on the Huskers' fifth play from scrimmage on Saturday at Purdue. Nebraska won the game 44-7. Long was an Outland Trophy candidate after making first-team All-Big Ten and second-team All-American in 2012. Pelini says it looks like Long is gone for the year, "but the prognosis going forward's a little bit better." - AP Sports

Not a terrible pick.

To be fair I think its more that he was graded as a 6th rounder by ESPN and 7th rounder by CBS. Not to mention Yankey {OG Stan} and Nix {NT ND} was still on the board. Personally though I have a hard time being mad about picking OL.

Or maybe because he's coming off an injury and was projected as a 6th rounder or even undrafted. I like addressing the line but saw Yankey or even maybe wait for Richardson from Baylor in a round or two and then use the pick on Brooks from FSU.

Has McGill been taken yet?

Yes, and I like it.

Spencer Long is Jake's brother. He's a smart boy - repeatedly All-Academic. He's a walk on who worked hard.
