Based on what? Your scouting report? I have a feeling the Raiders are much worse on the OL than we are. All I'm hearing is........"I'm mad because I don't know who these guys are and its' not a name I've heard parroted by draftniks/analysts the past couple months"....... If you guys want "instant contributors" from 3rd rounders, I have no idea what league you've been watching. Mostly everybody passed the first two rounds are developmental players. Hell, even some 2nd rounders are as well. If they catch on quick and are able to start, it's a bonus.

Personally, the only pick that should warrant a response like what we've seen from some people today is a really bad first round pick, since a first rounder is almost always expected to contribute significantly and even start. From the second round on, it could go either way in my opinion.

Sheesh, people act like like we just picked a punter with a high round pick or something. SMH.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft: Rounds 2-3
To be fair I think its more that he was graded as a 6th rounder by ESPN and 7th rounder by CBS. Not to mention Yankey {OG Stan} and Nix {NT ND} was still on the board. Personally though I have a hard time being mad about picking OL.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft: Rounds 2-3
After seeing a 6th rounder become the second highest rusher in the league within our own team, people still don't learn that anything can happen with these mid to low round picks.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft: Rounds 2-3
FWIW the front office seems to be putting a premium on high motor players. After all they passed up Moses initially for Murphy and then with that last pick Spencer Long {OG Neb} they got a guy who was a former walk on.

Spencer Long is Jake's brother. He's a smart boy - repeatedly All-Academic. He's a walk on who worked hard.

From what I hear, Spencer Long could project to C.

There is a reason we know one name and not another though. Lol. This guy would have been there in probably the fifth round. Maybe the sixth. Do we think THAT much of him to take him in the third? I guess so. Idk. |
