Re: Republican nominee for President

I know I've said this before, but PRIOR to this election, I've woken up, put my pants one leg at a time (rung a cowbell or two) and life went on. From Reagan to Clinton to Bush to Obama, my life was essentially the same. I'll take that right now.

I worry that if Trump gets elected (and to a lesser extent Bernie) that suddenly I'll wake up to a LOT of changes that I don't want.

I worry more about the continued degradation of rights that changes imperceptibly under the guise of politically correct speech where the status quo continues to usurp what the constitution says then what a firebrand like Trump would actually be able to accomplish.

I expect that IF he were to get the nomination ( not a sure thing ) that Clinton and him will duke it out in an old style backroom political brawl. Maybe they could have an actual duel ala Hamilton and Burr.

well, since bush and obama, we've tortured people, but haven't called it torture, we've killed a lot of civilians but redefined civilians to make the stats look better, and we've decided that prisoners taken in a war aren't actually prisoners of war. the country has expanded government and spending drastically, we have two new organizations, one which spends a lot of time spying on americans, another that is only there to annoy us at airports to make us feel safe without actually providing real security. we've also taken a very marginal step towards universal health care, which is either good or bad (it's hard to tell without writing a thesis on it, it's not fully implemented, and important things like the cost control board aren't formed yet).

sorry if that's a dim view, but if you didn't notice any of that, you won't notice trump or hillary either. trump is a bit more dangerous with a republican congress, but neither he nor sanders are really part of the parties they're running under, they're just leveraging those machines since independent runs are basically impossible... which means that congressional carte blanche probably wouldn't exist for trump anyways.

You act like this is all new.I know I am showing my age and I apologize for it I try not to but I would love to have everyone who is 40 years and younger live through the Vietnam era, without twitter or e-mail and cell phones and see what life was like during a war (yeah it was a "conflict")

I agree with MalcomConnection ,having Donald Trump as President and have him go off nuclear or worse could very well be the end of this country and this world. No other canidate scares me in that way.

No one should be actually scared of Trump. You cannot literally believe a single thing he says. He is the definition of style rather than substance.

I understand being concerned about the substance of his message but I am not concerned at all because I don't believe he actually believes anything he is saying. Which is a whole other thing to worry about all together.

I certainly have things that I've disagreed with over the years. I DID forget about TSA though as something that's new and highly annoying/ineffective.

I worry that a Trump presidency would touch my daily life directly. Sure Hillary, Cruz or Bernie might do things I agree or disagree with, but I just can't imagine my life changing that much with any of them in charge. Could it happen? Very possibly.

Re: Republican nominee for President

what point are you trying to make? that we should be okay with trampling human rights or that we shouldn't hold people accountable for doing shady shit because it's happened before? and how am i acting like it's new? i mean this stuff happened between 2003 and 2010, which was a while ago, but i wasn't happy with it at that time either.

It's called "Politics" , it has always been like this and and it will always be like this .I hold politicians in the same light as used car salesmen and real estate agents. That will say anything to get elected or make a sale.

i wasn't talking about things they were saying, i was talking about things they actually did. i don't think holding people accountable is too much to ask.

Well those that vote for Trump must not be in their right minds for some strange reason.

I would hold that sentiment about anyone voting for Hillary.

I would say that about Hillary, trump, Bernie and Cruz. Kasich is the only viable candidate in the field with a proven record and substantive plans that wouldn't bankrupt the country. But a candidate like this doesn't have a chance in hell during this election cycle.

I don't see how anybody could vote for Hillary with her track record in leadership positions in the last decade. She's been a train wreck and her fat ass woulda been on the curb if she woulda pulled this garbage in the private sector.

Trump rallies are like going to Wrestlemania. I'm just waiting for someone to crack someone over the head with a chair.
