Re: Steelers @ Redskins (Pre season game 2)

Like hearing Kedric Golston is having a great camp and seeming to play that 3-4 DE position at a high level. Our front seven looks awesome for the most part, even without Rak. Like others have said this D will be nasty upfront and if the secondary can get up to speed quickly it'll be a top 10 defense all around.

Tyler "Turd" Ferguson still sucks. So bad. So bad.

Re: Steelers @ Redskins (Pre season game 2)

Very classy move from Ryan Clark (from the ESPN NFC East Blog)

Quote:
Safety Bacarri Rambo continues to have issues with angles in the open field. Probably a lot of that has to do with being a rookie and adapting to the speed of the game. That’s a valid excuse. But if the Redskins are going to start him, then they need him to clean this up in a hurry. They are probably happy that Steelers safety Ryan Clark sought out Rambo after the game, wanting to offer some coaching tips on playing safety. They chatted only a couple seconds, but he said Clark told him to “try to close space as much as possible. Don’t run in front of the ballcarrier, stay inside him and force him outside and take a good shot.” That’s exactly what Rambo didn’t do on one cut by Jonathan Dwyer. Rambo went to his outside hip, allowing an easy cutback. This is what the preseason is for, especially for rookies. But Rambo knows his play must improve. The pep talk from Clark helped. “I look up to him; he’s one of the better safeties in the league,” Rambo said.

pat white sucks. there's a reason he's been out of the league for 3 years... if you honestly think he's that good, why hasn't he been employed?

here are his CAREER passing stats for the NFL: 0/5 for 0 yards.

amazing!

He would give the defense a good look when we play read option teams... that would be the only reason to keep him on the team...as a practice player.

Thats about right.

I don't expect everyone to be able to evaluate QBs on a professional level. There's so much that goes into being a good QB that an untrained eye can't possibly know. I DO expect people to UNDERSTAND THAT. You do not know what you're talking about. He is not running our offense. He is running a watered-down simplified version that requires minimal, MINIMAL, QB passing skills. That won't cut it come regular season. He'd get eaten alive. It's very simple. He has not shown he can run our offense. He has shown he can run AN offense (not ours) that works against 4th/5th stringers. That's it.

I want to know what Miami thinking drafting him in the 2nd round. Whoever was responsible for that should never ever work in an NFL front office again. The only pick that I can see that was worse was drafting Tebow in the 1st round. We all know how that turned out for Lil' Hoody.

That was back when the wildcat was still all the rage.

Parcells was the genius that drafted him.

Smoot, you are always in the know, so here is my question on Colfeld's broken hand. I guess we are 3 weeks out from actually needing him, but how long will it take for his hand to actually heal. I know he can play with a "club cast" and all that, but he won't be 100%.

Good to hear on Cousins... never seemed serious, but after what happened with Phillip Thomas, I was def a bit cautious.

Re: Steelers @ Redskins (Pre season game 2)

I had a fellow Skins fan at work today tell me he wants to see Pat White play with the 1st team offense. I just said Pat White isnt making this team.

I like the dude, but was like it aint happening. Then he said Shanny being arrogant again if he doesnt give Pat White a true shot.

Just smh

It's hard to evaluate your receivers when you have a guy in there that is so limited in what he can run. That's why I can't see White playing with the 1's.

WOW, completely thought you were talking about Grossman all the way up to the last sentence. Limited? How? PW looked like RG3 running the scheme minus Mach 2 speed at running. I saw little difference The types of plays Rg3 ran last year and what PW was running in both games.

Grossman on the other hand looked to be running a basic offense, basic drop and throw with a lot less "option". Plus he's as slow as molasses.

Funny that we are only talking about the 3rd QB spot and funnier that everyone seems to have forgotten the attrociousness we call Grossman.

Personally I'll take anyone over Grossman just to make sure he is not in any form an option if they need QB #3. I'm really shocked and suprised we are having this discussion. I knew there were the few Grossman lovers but the amount of beloved support baffles me.

In other words: I hate Grossman so I'm just going to naturally say that anyone is better than him. And I'll make ignorant observations like 'I see Pat White running so that must be the same offense that RG3 was in, because he ran too'. I'll ignore the actual passing element to the offense RG3 was in last year. And I'll overlook that Pat White almost never went through his progressions, while Rex often did. And the fact that Grossman had a much better game against Pittsburgh than White did? Doesn't matter.

To the bolded... Sounds like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

I think its safe to say that if we are relying on Grossman or White as a starter that we are in trouble. Its the third string QB. Neither are going to win consistently against starting defenses.
