Re: 2009 Free Agents
Outside of acquiring Boldin or Houshmandzadeh, Philly can't actually do anything to improve on the two guys they actually have, not to mention how deep they are (save Greg Lewis).
I think McNabb really needs to shut up. I think if he keeps a low profile, people might actually not realize what is keeping the Philly Offense back. For those of you keeping count, McNabb has now thrown: 1) his top tier defense, and 2) his above average receiving corps under the bus in order to try to explain away why they "can't win the big one" so to speak. The truth is that Donovan McNabb is a good quarterback with a fantastic supporting cast. The Eagles are a perennially great team. It's unfortunate for those guys that they haven't won the super bowl yet, because they've certainly been good enough so many different times. But Donovan really needs to look in the mirror, because his play has declined so much over the last three years, and he's trying to blame it on everyone but himself.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Harrison would be a pretty ideal fit here for one year, no? Especially if Moss is traded.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Angelo Crowell? Rumor has it we're interested in his services as an OLB. He'd be cheap.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
He looks like a good, inexpensive pickup, if he's over his knee injury. I like this rumor better than Haynesworth. Who else has been on the Redskins' radar? It's been relatively quiet, huh?

JLC also mentioned Chris Canty.

Canty and Crowell would be smart upgrades IMO.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
I'd like to have both for sure. I know SmootSmack and a few others kicked around the idea of Landon Johnson to help the LB situation. He restructured his deal and will stay a Panther.

Well looks like the Tuna may be going after Jason Brown.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
crowell is one of those solid unspectacular LBs that you can get cheaply every year... and we always seem to pass on them (brandon short a couple years ago etc).
LB depth would be a nice thing to have, and i don't know why the team has ignored it for 2-3 years... |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
I think Canty would be a very solid addition to the team. Fletcher's apparently pushing hard for Crowell.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
As a follow up question to the possibility of signing AH... I'm almost completely baffled how we could afford him. From what I've read he's demanding about $15 mil per year on the books i.e. against a team's cap. Even after cutting Springs we'd only have about $10 mil in space and the only other player who we could cut to free up enough to make this work... Jason Taylor?

that's oversimplifying it a bit, but it's doable... that'd basically be the entire offseason though, signing hall would be a lot harder now that griffin's restructuring (meaning you can't cut him to save 4mill anymore). |
