Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
I would not pick up th 5'th option and see where he is at at the end of next year and make an offer to keep hi according to how how much (if at all) he has progressed. Or at the very least possibly trade him during the season to a qb needy team and get whatever I could for him

Colt and Kirk are both career backups. Any talk of riding either of them as the starter next year is foolish.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
They still have major salary cap problems. RG3 gets close to $7 million. There are several players contracts that dramatically increase next year.
Trent + $ 4 million* Ryan K + 4.5 million* DeSean Jackson + $5 million* Bowen + $5 million* * ballpark estimates / they are close They have several players that will get $1- $2.5 million more next year..... and they continue to pay Morgan, Fletcher, and Carriker |

It appears the bosses either expect to start McCoy/Cousins next year or find a starter in FA/draft. Pretty plain it's coming from Gruden. Like some former coaches/players/GMs have said, as a coach you don't dump on the franchise QB the way Gruden did. Can't think of any HC who's handled it this way and gone on to be successful with same QB??? |

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
he cant throw the ball farther than 40 yds and cant put enough zip on the ball on out routes to avoid a corner stepping in front for an int.
the dude's arm is such a liability. i dont see how we can call every passing play in the book bc colt cant make every throw in the book. im pretty sure in 1 play against the colts, colt saw d jax behind the secondary but he hesitated and didnt pull the trigger bc he didnt have confidence in his arm strength. give RG3 more time to study and develop. correct kirk's panic mode. let colt stick around if rg3 and kirk dont improve. RG3 could very well win the starter job next PS. i think he needs to open himself up to criticism and take a deep look inside himself to accept his limitations then work like hell on them. .. and any alleged hurt feelings btw him and gruden need to be squashed.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
Yea I would like to know that also..I will say at first RGIII had way more potential than Colt but potential does not win games..his trade value will tell us what other teams think of him, in a QB starved league you would think that if RGIII is all that we should have no problem getting at least a second round pick ..my bet is we get nothing and he will be released .

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
To me, the upside of picking up RGIII's 5th year option outweighs any negatives. I also find it difficult to believe that the Skins want to trade him. He's only 24 years old and he's a bright guy. There is time for him to work on his skills and become intimately familiar with this specific offense. Then he can regain his job and reach his full potential.

I'd rather just cut to the chase vs another year of drama/game game losses.

There won't be any drama if RGIII doesn't start until Jay Gruden thinks he is truly ready. Of course, I'm hoping that Jay has taken control of that decision. Look, Jay has a big mouth. He has said things about RGIII that he probably shouldn't have said publicly. Now, they just need to establish a good working relationship out of the public eye and work together to get RGIII ready to start sometime in the future. We should forget trade value. The Skins can never recoup the value they paid for RGIII and one 3rd Round pick isn't going to make or break the team. Having a competent RGIII sometime down the line and for years to come could turn us into perennial contenders. I'm hoping that Skins management doesn't over-react to anything that has transpired between RGIII and management and throw away the opportunity to try to develop him into a franchise QB.
