Ok so I forgot he worked with him once. My point still somewhat stands, he leaves Buffalo and did Fischer sign him? No. He left the Skins and did his ole buddy Fischer sign him? No. Now he's helping to coach a team that is a regular in the play offs. I just don't see GW throwing gig he's got now for a bottom feeder team.

Fisher and the rest of the Titans FO chose to stick with Jim Schwartz instead. Schwartz might have been on the hot seat in 2006, but Schwartz finished strong in 2007 and 2008.

But the Rams only have leverage if the Redskins are interested in that pick. Because the Browns are well positioned anyway. If the Browns want Griffin, they just have to beat best offer, they don't actually have to move (on some level here, I am suggesting that NFL teams will collude). It greatly complicates the ability of the Rams to trade the pick for above-market value if teams know they can't beat the Browns.

Basically, unless the Rams are actually willing to take Robert Griffin with the second overall pick, their only leverage comes from the Redskins interest in the pick (because it wouldn't make sense for the Rams to drop too much further down in the draft than sixth). If the Redskins want to go to 3rd overall to jump the Browns, the Rams aren't going to get a whole lot of serious offers for that pick.
I suspect you underestimate the market here. Yes, the Browns will be interested enough to try to match/beat the best offer the Rams get. However, in addition to the Redskins possible interest in moving up, why would the Dolphins be uninterested in moving up to get RG III?

Same with the Jaguars after Mularkey gets a look at a full season's worth of tape on Blaine Gabbert?

Why not the Broncos if Elway decides that Tebow is not the long term answer?

The Chiefs?

And as real long-shots why not the Cowboys or the Jets once they realize the cold light of day that their starting QBs are probably at or near their peak peformance levels right about now?

I suspect the Rams will have more than one team interested in the price of that #2 pick even if the Redskins choose not to play the game. Now the Rams may hold out for such an exorbitant price that they cannot move the pick, but that is different from not getting any offers.

You could be right here, but if the Rams trade with any of those teams they are effectively removing themselves from the part of the draft where they can land an impact player at a need position. Having the Redskins pick keeps them positioned to do such a thing.

I think they have a considerable amount more leverage if they are willing to select Robert Griffin with the second overall pick, but if they don't have him graded as a top two player in the draft, I don't see how they can expect someone to pony up the market rate for their pick. They'll probably get stuck with it. The Browns aren't paying two first rounders to move up two spots, that's just not what the Browns will do.

Their only shot, it seems, would be to trade with the Redskins or Dolphins.

Where the friendship would help us is the two would have a more open line of communication. And in the end Fisher would be willing to let Shanahan match any offer he got rather then just going right head with any offer he deems best. However in terms of getting a discount it's not likely. The market will determine the cost.

However lets not forget that Fisher also has contacts in both Miami where he interviewed and Seattle where he shares the USC connection with Carroll, though given how Carroll left USC that might work against him. As it stands I'm feeling like Cleveland is only marginally interested in RGIII.

Fisher probably liked how Schotty Jr had the Jets running the ball during his time in New York.

NFL.com news: Rams to introduce Fisher on Tuesday; Williams joins as DC

League sources also told La Canfora that Gregg Williams has agreed to leave the New Orleans Saints and join the Rams as defensive coordinator.

Though the Rams haven't confirmed the hire, Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma tweeted "Gregg williams is a great coach, I wish him luck in st Louis."

The Rams will be doomed unless Gregg Williams learns to double cover Vernon Davis.

NFL.com news: Ex-Bears OC Martz retiring to pursue other opportunities

Should have retired after St. Louis. He's been garbage ever since.
